There are seasons when your own strength simply isn’t enough. Seasons filled with waiting, uncertainty, and prayers you can barely find the words to pray.

Watching this mama reminded me that courage is continuing to trust God one day at a time, drawing your strength from Him when you have nothing left to give. In the hardest seasons of life we often discover that God isn’t distant from our suffering, He is our refuge in it. One of my favorite images from this session is God’s Word open in the middle of it all.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” 🤍 Isaiah 41:10

Today I’m grateful. Grateful to live in a country where I can build a business I love, create freely, and document the lives of the families who trust me.

Grateful to raise my children according to our convictions. Grateful that they can learn to read, explore God’s creation, and grow up with opportunities that so many throughout history have never known.

And most of all, grateful that we can gather, open God’s Word, and worship Jesus freely.

None of those freedoms came without sacrifice. To the men and women who have served, and to the families who have carried that sacrifice alongside them, thank you.

As parents, I hope we’re raising the next generation to love this country well, steward the land we’ve been given, work with integrity, create beautiful things, and above all, honor God.

Hi, I’m Ashley, the heart behind Copper & Coal Photos.

I’m a storytelling photographer, mama, wife, Jesus follower, garden-dirt-under-my-fingernails kind of girl, and someone who will always choose the real moment over the perfectly posed one.

Copper & Coal Photos is a business built on faith. My hope is to steward this work well, serve families and businesses with care, and create photographs that honor the beauty God has already placed in your life.

Around here, I love documenting motherhood, families, newborns, slow mornings, small businesses, farms, brands with purpose, and the ordinary moments that somehow become the ones we miss most.

But motherhood will always hold a really sacred place in my heart. I believe mothers deserve to be seen, loved on, supported, and celebrated. Not just when everything looks polished and peaceful, but right in the middle of the beautiful, exhausting, holy work of raising children.

Our culture doesn’t always cherish motherhood the way it should, but I do. I want my photos to remind you that this season matters. The snuggles, the chaos, the tiny hands, the tired eyes, the deep love, the everyday faithfulness. It is all worth remembering.

Whether I’m photographing your babies, your business, your home, or your season of life, my heart is the same:
