I am a self-taught, passionate family and brand photographer of the Lakes Region, New Hampshire. Okay, I know some of you have been waiting to see how these turned out!

Remember when I told you my girls wanted to do their school photos on the four-wheelers this year? Well, here they are!

No school picture backdrop. No perfectly pressed outfits. Just four-wheelers, pretty dresses, the start of fall foliage, a little mud, and two sisters having fun in the woods. Oh, and their dad lifting me up in the tractor forks to get the shot!

And you know what? I LOVE how they turned out.

These photos are so THEM. Their personalities, their interests, and this little chapter of life that I know I'll miss someday.

A reminder that school portraits and milestone photos don't have to look like everyone else's.

Dirt bikes, horses, four-wheelers, sports gear...whatever makes your kids light up. THAT'S worth capturing.

If you've been to one of my family mini sessions, you know we don't do a whole lot of standing still and saying CHEESE. 😂 We walk, laugh, play, get a little silly, and sometimes...swing our kids around in blankets. (New favorite prompt unlocked, by the way!)

Because those genuine smiles, belly laughs, and little in-between moments? THAT is what I'm after. A few sneak peeks from my recent fall mini sessions at Carter Hill Orchard in Concord, NH! 🍎🍂

As much as my photography business has grown and evolved over the last couple of years, this right here will always have a special place in my heart. Photographing families, capturing milestones, and documenting those little connections is what made me pick up a camera many, many years ago.

To my returning families, thank you for continuing to trust me with your memories. And to the new families I met this year, I'm so happy you found me!!!

This might be one of the more ridiculous places I've put myself for a photo....😂

But there's a reason. My girls didn't want to do school portraits this year. And as a photographer who LOVES documenting them every year, that one hurt a little.

Then I realized something. They weren't saying no to having their pictures taken. They were saying no to the kind of pictures I was asking them to take.

So we changed the plan.

They love riding the 4-wheelers on the trails behind our house. They're not afraid of mud. They aren't exactly the stand-in-a-pretty-field-
and-twirl-your-dress kind of girls.

Insert 4-wheelers, rain, mud, dresses—and even Jake putting me on the forks of our tractor so I could get high enough to capture the shot I had in my head.

And THAT is the kind of portrait photography I love. Creating something that feels like the person in it. Something they'll look back on someday and remember exactly who they were in that season of life and even a core memory of riding those trails together.

I dont talk about this side of my business often, but it is a side that I absolutely love. I've been doing Picture Days for Gilmanton Youth Organization for four years now. I look forward to photographing these kids every single season! I've coached MANY of them and to show up to Picture Day and still hear, "Hi, Coach Mel" completely fills my bucket.

3 Days.
12 Teams.
120(ish) Kiddos.
A list of print packages to print, pack, and deliver.
And a whole lot of smiles and fun!

And this year one of those days was during games so why not snap some action photos while the camera was handy?!
