Surprise for some of you — I've been splitting my time between Alaska and Sedona & Northern Arizona these days. Alaska's still home, still where a lot of my heart and my best stories live — but I've been building out work down here too, shooting commercial photography nationally and now have a very nice office set up in AZ.
I Made a video to introduce myself properly and give you a sense of who I am and what I do these days. Take a look for a peak inside my life, behind the scenes and a hello to new and old friends, new neighbors and communities.

In March 2017 I was standing three feet from Bob Weir in a
small bar at the base of a ski mountain in Girdwood, Alaska.

I had tens of thousands of dollars worth of Canon camera gear
around my neck. I reached for my iPhone.

No regrets.

Bob flew up to Alaska because his friend Dave Nelson was sick
and couldn't play his scheduled shows. That's just who Bob is.
Resort owner John Byrne made it all happen — flew him up on
his private jet, put him up, and didn't think twice about it.

I was the only photographer and filmmaker credentialed for any
of the three shows. Most people kept their phones put away out
of respect. It was that kind of room.

After three nights I'll be honest — I knew every single word
he played. Every. Single. Word.

I hiked up to this sweet spot in Sedona for sunset photos. 🌅

Stayed a little longer than planned when I realized my camera bag had been sitting next to a rattlesnake. 🐍

Alaska taught me bears and moose.
Arizona is giving me new homework!

Drones are great. This is why I still shoot from helicopters.
Feet out the door — no door, actually — over Alyeska Resort in Alaska. This frame ended up on the front of their trail map.
Drone technology is incredible and I use it too, but a pro shooter with a pro camera body in a helicopter brings something no drone can replicate — dynamic range, instinct, and creative control in real time.
