TL;DR: burnt-out creative rediscovers magic

Somewhere over the years I forgot what a privilege it is to call this work when there’s so much play involved.

When you’re sprinting from one ring to the next, it’s impossible to practice “the art of noticing.” I became a machine on autopilot, shooting based on a formula instead of a feeling. I could nail the perfect oxer shot over and over but I forgot that so much of the magic happens not in the ring, but outside of it.

To maintain my creative sanity and my physical health, I am committing to this slowed-down pace as much as possible, which means limiting the number of clients I take on. I am really blessed with the best clients out there and so grateful for the opportunity to slow down from machine pace to normal human.

I’m also painfully aware of the fact that I’ve had this revelation before and still fell into overwork because I am a workaholic and a “yes” person. 🥲😂 Between the reality check of health issues and the total creative burnout that hit me right after winter circuit, I’m finally ready to make the change. Here’s to the rest of a slow, intentional year full of magic ✨🫶🏻
