How do we make our elopement feel special, without over complicating it?

I hear this over and over, and I think it’s where a lot of couples get stumped.

They want it to feel meaningful but not overwhelming, beautiful but not performative, and intentional but still simple.

The truth is, it doesn’t take much to make an elopement feel special.

It takes presence. Choosing what matters and letting go of what doesn’t. Being true to yourselves in every step of the process.

For Ashlee and Andrew, that looked like choosing Acadia - a national park they hadn’t been to yet! But also incorporating the coast, time at a brewery, reading letters from loved ones, bringing their cowboy boots and so many other fun details.

The big and the small details - they all make up the magic ✨

Sydney & Jared traded a traditional wedding for a full-day adventure in the Tetons - this is what it can look like when you build a day around you!

From a slow morning getting ready together at their Airbnb, to exchanging vows at the classic Wedding Tree, an afternoon lake hike, exploring iconic Teton locations like Mormon Row + Schwabacher landing - every part of their day felt intentional, relaxed, and actually enjoyable.

If you’re thinking about eloping in Grand Teton National Park, here’s what made their day work so well:

🥾 Choose 2-3 meaningful locations instead of trying to do everything
🥾 Build in time for an activity or two (like their hike!) so it feels like an experience, not just photos
🥾Start early + end at sunset for the best light and fewer crowds
🥾Consider staying on the Idaho side (Victor/Driggs) for a quieter, more private home base
🥾Plan something intentional for the evening (like a private chef or cozy dinner in)

Your elopement doesn’t have to fit into a template, it can feel like a really, really good day in one of the most beautiful places you’ve ever been.

So… if the Tetons are calling, how would you spend your day? ✨

Not every wedding has to fit inside four walls.

You can say your vows beside icebergs in Alaska. On a quiet alpine ridge in Montana. Deep in the valley of Yosemite National Park with granite walls towering around you. Or somewhere no one else is watching but the wind, the trees, and the two of you.

That’s the beauty of eloping. There are no rules, just intention!

When you start dreaming about your day, don’t begin with what you think you should do. Start with how you want it to feel.

Peaceful? Adventurous? Slow? Joyful? Wild?

Then build a day around that.

Maybe it looks like:
– Watching the sunrise with coffee in hand
– Hiking to a place that feels unreal
– Reading private vows with zero distractions
– Celebrating with a picnic, a swim, or your favorite meal
– Inviting a few of your favorite humans… or keeping it just you two

Eloping isn’t about running away, it’s about choosing a day that reflects your relationship, your values and your priorities.

And yes, you really can get married in places that feel this big!!

The logistics (permits, timelines, locations) can all be figured out. The most important part is giving yourself permission to dream first.

So… where will it be? ✨

Boat rides in Acadia are one of the most fun things to on elopement days there!

Whether it’s just the two of you or surrounded by family, getting to see the island and surrounding area via boat, spot some wildlife, and learn some fun facts about the region brings your elopement day to a whole other level!

Kate + Steven did just that with their close group of family and friends and it was the perfect way to kickoff their elopement celebration before their ceremony the next day.

Would you incorporate a boat outing as part of your elopement experience?!

Two days in Olympic National Park with Morgan and Al 💚

Olympic is such a vast national park, that if you’re wanting to explore all that it has to offer, a two day elopement gives us the space to do so.

These two started their elopement experience with some fishing on the river - something they love to do together.

As the day progressed, they shared a first look and butterfly release, a ceremony at Lake Crescent, and family photos up in the mountains.

Day two was their time to explore. We hiked through the Hoh rainforest, explored multiple beaches, and ended the day splashing in the pacific and searching for critters in tide pools. A comprehensive Olympic National Park elopement if you ask me!!

This park is one of my favorites and I can’t wait to be back in just a few months!! 🌲
