“Going through things you never thought you’d go through will take you places that you never thought you’d get to.” 🦋

Some of you know, some of you don’t - during hurricane helene, my wife and I lost our house due to a tree snapping & falling through it. Devastated, lost, & wrecked are understatements to how we felt. We fought though! The next 6 months after the storm felt like 3 years of hell but we fought so hard to keep positivity in our hearts & I’m so glad we did. Losing that house was the best thing that could’ve ever happened to us. I know, I know. “Jody, that’s insane.” But y’all it’s so true!!

You see, growth is a process. Growth is not linear. Growth can’t always be planned because life doesn’t always go exactly how we think it will. I never thought at 25 years old I would lose my first house & literally be evicted by nature overnight, but we took that tragedy & decided we weren’t going to let it knock us completely down. You have to choose to grow with the changes that life hands to you. Open your mind to new possibilities & understand when changes need to be made mentally, environmentally, & emotionally. Understand that this little life is temporary. It’s beautiful even when it feels like everything isn’t. It’s up to you to play the hand you’re dealt & create the life you want to live. It takes work. It takes time. It’s not easy… but it’s worth it.

My life could be so different, but I worked hard on myself & my relationship to make sure it went the way I wanted it to. Are there still hard days? YES! Does everything go my way? Absolutely not, but I choose play the hand I’m dealt. I choose to look at the bright side because no matter what, there always is one.

It’s been a year since we’ve been in our new home. This picture reminded me that - just like a butterfly - there is proof in this life that you have to go through a great deal of darkness, growth, & transformation to truly become something beautiful. 🩵🌿

You are strong. You are capable. Trust the process. You’ve got this!! Love you, mean it!! 🌞🫶🏼🩷

Becoming her… 🪞🌿🫶🏼

She’s not just a version of me that I imagined - she’s the version I chose to become.

She honors her body.
She protects her peace.
She no longer over-explains, overextends, or overlooks her own needs.
She loves herself.

She doesn’t beg to be seen because she sees herself now. She sees her worth.
She doesn’t chase acceptance - she became accepting of herself.

She’s soft, sensitive - but not weak.
She’s healing, growing, & most importantly showing up for herself.

I’m not becoming her to prove anything.
I’m becoming her to finally live.
A life free of anxieties, false narratives, & validation from others.
A life of happiness, love, & peace.
I’m becoming her for me.

If I’m being honest, this morning was going rough for me. Not for any one particular reason, but just because sometimes we have those days where it feels like nothing is going right. Then somebody was nice to me. Did it make my day perfect? No, but it definitely made it better…

Where I work, we truly have the best customers. Some of them you create bigger bonds with though (just like any customer service job). This morning one of my favorite customers brought me some chocolate truffles. I wasn’t expecting it at all but it made me so happy how thoughtful it was. I told her that I really needed that kindness since I was having a pretty rough morning. She told me something that will stick with me forever.

I won’t be able to say it in the exact words that she said, but I’ll try my best. She told me that her daddy always told her that no matter how cloudy, foggy, or rainy the day is there will always be a point in the day where there will be some sunshine. Whether it’s for 5 seconds, 5 minutes, or the rest of your day - there will always be some sunshine in every single day. Guys, that truly brought tears to my eyes. I needed that more than she knew because no matter how positive I try to be, there are days where I feel like I have none left. My heart feels so full. Today has not been perfect, but that jump started my ability to see the good today. Kindness goes further than we know sometimes.

So just remember that there is always gonna be sunshine even on the foggy days. Thank you, ms. Rachael. Thank you for telling me that I’m strong. Thank you for making my day better. Thank you for being my sunshine before the sun ever had the chance to come out. 🩷

Happy New Year, my friends!!🥳🍾 I am so thankful for all of the love & support that I have been shown on this journey to sharing my positivity & mind even before starting this page. 🥹

2026 is a year where growth within ourselves is going to be so important for shaping our path in our lives. Life is anything but easy, but this year is so important to work through the doubts in our brains & actively make decisions to try forming our life into exactly what we want. I mean it might not work in the way that you want, but what else do you have to lose? The world feels like it's burning around us, true. BUT YOU have the choice on either sitting around and complaining about what is going wrong or actively focusing on all of the things going right, creating a goal with the resources you already have, & TRY.

I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again: the only people who are going to be upset by your boundaries are the ones who benefit from you not having any. When somebody reacts strongly to your boundaries, it usually means that they were intending on and/or comfortable crossing them.

You aren’t being difficult, dramatic, or “insane” - you’re being clear with what you are comfortable with. Your job is to communicate effectively about your feelings, not to comply with somebody else’s wants/needs & throw your boundaries out the window. People who respect you don’t argue with your boundaries, babes! They listen. They adjust. They don’t push back.

Setting boundaries is about what you will & will not accept. What you will & will not receive. It’s all about you & your life. It’s about what will bring you happiness or even just take away the turmoil, stress, or sadness. It’s about taking care of you.

You deserve peace, happiness, & respect. Go into this new year creating and/or sticking to the boundaries that you set for yourself. You are going to do so great! Love you, mean it!!🩷🫶🏼
