Postcard scenes from a bucket list stay at the beautiful Lake Atitlán, Guatemala
Referred to by many as the Lake Como of Central America, I knew this area would have some gorgeous views, but it far exceeded my expectations.
Surrounded by three volcanoes, it’s Central America’s deepest lake, formed from by a basin left from an eruption over 84,000 years ago.
The water was crystal clear and surprisingly warm despite many of the rumors I had heard prior to arriving (those people must have never experienced a true alpine lake 🤷🏻‍♂️).
We ended up extending our stay here for close to a week, as it was just too hard to leave, and we wanted additional time to explore the many villages that surround the lake, each offering their own distinct beauty, culture, and history.
If you’re looking for a vacation to adventure and relax, with beautiful views that rival some of the best international destinations (for less than half the price), I can’t recommend visiting here enough.
Plenty more to come from this recent trip, so stay tuned!
