While I had hoped to photograph yesterday's Lunar Eclipse from this plane ride around Mt. Washington, some clouds on the horizon managed to block the view of it at the last moment. However the air time was not wasted as sunrise was quite a stunner! Thanks to my pilot pal Kristina Delp for the ride!

"Luck is when preparation meets opportunity"

Thankful for heated socks on cold aurora chasing missions 🙌

Captured this morning around 3:20am.

Insane shot of the aurora last night taken by my buddy Jamie Walter at 3:20 am (soooo past my bedtime)

I am extremely grateful to have friends who will wake up at 2am so we can catch alpenglow in the alpine 🙌 Thank you I will be daydreaming about this light for a long time.

Send this to a friend without snow out west 😈

As a ski photographer who has dedicated the last decade+ of his career to doing justice to the East Coast, I’ve said it a million times: when the snow’s good here, the skiing is just as good as anywhere else in the world.

Glad the recent snowfall here has given us some well deserved attention!

Hey Sugarloaf Mountain Friends! The Western Maine Center for Children is hosting an online auction to raise funds for the childcare they provide to the great families in Carrabassett Valley. I have donated a few prints to the cause and it would mean a lot if you considered supporting these awesome folks by bidding on the artwork here: https://event.auctria.com/6841cc9e-7313-4e14-ac82-47620b69fe09/

As someone who uses gimbals and gyros to stabilize cameras as part of my job, I found this piece of camera history fascinating.

From a 1970 BBC One report on a new, remote control, gyro-balanced film camera that could be mounted to a vehicle on the end of a suspended boom. Equipped with three gyroscopes, which control movement in three dimesions (roll, pitch and yaw) it is able to take astonishingly stable pictures of moving images on even the most uneven terrain.

Clip originally broadcast on BBC One, 12 August, 1970.

Well, the cat's out of the bag - and hopefully in your mailbox soon! I am incredibly honored to share that one of my eclipse photos landed on the cover of Stio's Winter Solstice Catalog.

A cover shot has always been one of the most prestigious honors any great action sports photograph can receive. And in today's digital world, there aren't as many tangible page one's as there used to be...

However, what really makes this special for me is that the skier pictured is none other than my little brother, Mac, and we captured this photograph at the place we grew up skiing - Sugarloaf Mountain.

Not visible in this image, but equally important to this project, are all of the folks who helped make this photoshoot possible - the rest of the athletes who had just two minutes and eighteen seconds to each execute their turns; my friends and family who helped carry gear, run cameras, and dealt with all my anxiety leading up to eclipse day; and all the awesome folks who believed in this crazy idea that had a huge likelyhood of not working at all. I owe them more than a thank you - I wouldn't be posting this today if it wasn't for all of them!

A huge shoutout to Stio as well - not just for their support on this project, but for nearly a decade of awesome collaborations together. They have been an incredible partner to work with and I look forward to many more in the years to come!
