As a child of two Marines, granddaughter of four veterans, and niece of several more, I’ve been raised in a home where no veteran walks by without a handshake or a heartfelt “thank you.” Where the Marines’ Hymn is my grandpa’s ringtone. Where “PUSH” was the result of calling my sister a brat. And where my mom can’t outlive the nickname “BAM”, if you know, you know.
I grew up surrounded by honor, pride, and stories of service that shaped the very core of who I am. Being a veteran’s kid, I’ve also had the privilege of serving in the American Legion Auxiliary, where I somehow ended up doing my dad’s Historian job…by becoming the Post Photographer. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Through my camera, I’ve had the honor of capturing moments that celebrate those who’ve given so much: parades, officer installations, Christmas dinners, guest speakers, conferences, ceremonies, and even celebrations of life. Each photograph tells a story of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering love for this country.
To me, it’s not the amount of time spent in uniform that defines a veteran. It’s the courage to do what others can’t, the willingness to risk everything for the greater good, and the belief in something bigger than yourself.
I may never know what it feels like to wear the uniform, but I will always honor those who have. Past, present, missing, and gone.
Thank you, veterans. You are deeply loved, endlessly respected, and forever remembered. ❤️🤍💙
