Going through and old hard drive and found some photos I hadn’t looked at in years.

I need to get out and shoot more this winter, especially in the mornings. The light is pretty great this time of year. The weather not so much.

This is a good example of why I like to scan my negatives instead of relying on the lab scans. I have the control to make them look how I envisioned them when the film was exposed. It makes for more work, but it is an important part of the process.

The first image is my scan. Having a RAW file allowed for a large latitude when it comes to editing in Light Room. I don’t go crazy. I usually just do dust clean up and adjust the contrast and brightness. But, a RAW file just works better than a JPG.

The lab scans files are big enough for about a 4x6 print. The camera I used for scanning is good for 12x18 prints at the same resolution.

I usually only have the lab develop my color film, but I was in a rush and didn’t have any chemicals mixed up. I like having control from exposure to printing.

Meant to add these with my last post. I wonder if anything will ever move into this space.
