Using a aircraft or drone to take or recover a deer is still illegal in Michigan. I am still getting phone calls and I apologize that I am unable to help recover your deer. Best case is to hire a tracking dog to help. If you have any other drone needs give me a call.

Unfortunately after extensive discussion with the Michigan DNR this business of recovering deer with a drone is illegal. It falls under the language of “TAKE”. We still offer drone work just not in the recovery of wildlife! Visit

Welcome to Rack Recon - Michigan Deer Recovery Service!

Please share our page with your hunting buddies, especially the one who tend to shake when they see the BIG BUCKS! We are happy to come out to recover your trophy buck. We use state-of-the-art thermal imaging to find your deer and it has a very high success rate if the animal is fatally wounded. Either way, we can provide peace of mind for those who practice ethical hunting.

FAQ: Is it legal to use a drone to look for an animal?
Answer: 100%, if no one is armed or hunting, conducted after hunting hours to not harass other hunters, airspace is legal to fly in at the time of flight.

I have been a drone pilot for 8 years, professional photographer for 20 years, but more importantly a hunter for over 25 years.
