I get messages all the time from families who say they just need a few photos.
And I understand that. I do.
But here is the thing about the way I work that makes a quick posed session really not the right fit for what I do.
I am not a photographer who shows up with a shot list and a pose guide. I am an observer. I move quietly through your home and I watch. I wait. I look for the things that are happening in the background while everyone is focused on something else entirely.
And what I find there almost every single time is this.
Mom is loved in a way she cannot see because she is too busy taking care of everyone to notice.
The way her kid automatically reaches for her hand. The way they find her in a room full of people because she is just where they always want to be. The way her husband looks at her when she does not know anyone is watching. The way the whole family just gravitates toward her like she is the center of everything.
Because she is.
She just never gets to see it.
That is what I give families. Not a few nice photos. An opportunity for mom to actually witness how deeply she is loved. How much her presence matters. How much the quiet everyday work of caring for everyone is felt by every single person in that house even if nobody ever says it out loud.
That is not something you can capture in a few photos.
That is something that takes time and patience and someone who knows how to be still long enough to see it.
If that is what you are looking for, the link is in the comments. π
