Let’s talk about alpenglow 💖

The natural phenomenon that happens just after the sun sets, or right before it rises. And only lasting for a very short period of time — I’m talking minutes. The mountains shine a pinkish orange and it makes for an incredible backdrop for your elopement photos. It’s so fun seeing the transition in Sarajane + Kaylor’s photos. It started out as a bright orange when Sarajane started saying her vows, and then by the time it was Kaylor’s turn, it faded to a soft pink, complimenting the green evergreen trees that framed it. The way it reflected off the water looked like a painting. And I always edit my photos true to life, so this is what it looked like in real life. No photoshop, or extreme color adjustments. Exactly how they remember it.

When Keira + Sam decided they wanted to go to the most remote city in the lower 48 for their elopement, I couldn’t contain my excitement.

Years ago, when the idea of moving to Colorado felt like a pipe dream, I came across a picture of this basin and I thought to myself, that is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, I have to go there. Then I learned that getting to it was not for the faint of heart. Over an hour drive from the nearest city just to reach the small town of a population of ~400 people, then a 2 hour drive on a very slow going bumpy, rocky road, which eventually turns into 4x4ing along windy cliff roads. Mountain passes in Colorado can be scary sometimes. But are they worth it? 100%

If getting married in the heart of nature, with no one else around, complete privacy, at a place so stunning it completely takes your breath away, I know of a place 😊

I’ll be thinking about Natalie + Grace’s morning elopement for awhhilleeee.

These two, the quiet morning, their love, the adventure of driving a Jeep up a 4x4 road for the first time (!!!!!!), the landscape, the vibes. Sometimes it’s hard for me to describe and put into words how moving an elopement day feels, and this was one of them.

There are moments on elopement days that I look forward to every single time.

This is one of them.

We’re driving down a *extremely* bumpy 4x4 road, winding through the evergreen trees, when suddenly this impossible robins egg blue color starts glowing through the forest.

Not the lake. Just… the color.

For a second, it doesn’t even make sense. Your brain is trying to figure out why something that blue is hiding between the trees. Then we round one more corner. And it clicks. “Oh my God… is that the lake?!” Which is exactly what Katie said once she realized what she was looking at was in fact, the lake we were headed to!

A few seconds later, the trees opened up, and there it was.

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of witnessing that moment. Watching my couples see places like this for the very first time is one of my favorite parts of my job. Getting to experience that sense of wonder alongside them never gets old.

Colorado is pretty incredible. And romping around these woods with Katie + Josh on their wedding day felt like a fairytale. And then the rain just added to the magic of it all. 🌲 🪄 ⛰️

When Stephanie + Darick first reached out to me, it was just 3 months before they wanted to get married. They knew two things, 1) they wanted to get married in the mountains and 2) they wanted to go horseback riding in the mountains. When I heard this, I couldn’t contain my excitement. It was like all of my childhood dreams coming true. A wedding, horseback riding, AND taking pictures?!?! I knew this day was going to be epic.

We rode through the tallest wildflowers I’ve ever seen, and watched the sun peek through the evergreen trees as we rode by. View after view, wildflower meadow after wildflower meadow. When we finally made it to the top, it was like the world opened up just for us. It truly felt like a fairytale.

Days like this aren’t possible without vendors who are the best in the business.

Being in Moab yesterday had me reminiscing on Hillary + Matt’s sunset elopement there a few seasons back so I wanted to share some from their day 💜💙🩷🧡

It had me thinking how an elopement day doesn’t have to end as soon as the sun goes down. All of these pics here were taken during the last few minutes of light, and then right after during what we call “blue hour”. That special time when everything turns shades of blue, and as you can see, it’s pretty magical ✨

All the fall colors for Holly + Mason’s elopement last fall in Ouray 🍂 ⛰️

We drove up a 4x4 road, and were kind of surprised when we didn’t see another soul out there. It was just us and the wide open space. We explored the area a bit before making our way to their ceremony spot. They exchanged their vows right there in the mountains, in the chilly autumn air. It was what fall Colorado elopement dreams are made of. Something small. Simple. And set somewhere stunning ✨
