Dandelions are underrated 💛

My 3-year-old handed me a fistful of dandelions today like they were the rarest flowers in the world.

Somewhere along the way, adults decided dandelions were weeds. Something to pull. Spray. Get rid of. We spend so much time trying to make our lawns perfect that we forget there was once a version of us that saw beauty in the little yellow flowers growing through cracks in the sidewalk.

But kids don’t see weeds. They see wishes. Bouquets for their moms. And maybe that’s the point.

Dandelions grow where they’re not expected to. They survive harsh conditions. They bring color after long winters. They feed bees before most flowers bloom. Their roots run deep. Their seeds travel far.

They were created with purpose too and that is the perspective I need reminding of.

35 ✨

If you would have told me a year ago I’d have 3 kids by my next birthday, I would have laughed in your face and said absolutely no way.

But God has a way of writing stories we never could have planned for ourselves.

It’s not always where we thought we’d be, and if I’m honest, sometimes it stretches me in ways I didn’t expect…but I keep coming back to this: He is good. He is intentional. And He doesn’t miss.

Even in the unknown, even in the story we think we are writing and are so desperate to control…He’s working it all for good.

So I’m learning to loosen my grip, trust Him more, and lean into this season exactly as it is… messy, beautiful, and full of more love than I ever imagined.

It’s the tiny, flower picking hands for me.

The way they reach for mom without thinking.
How they wrap around a finger like it’s home.
Sticky, sandy, a little bit wild. Picking flowers, always moving, always telling a story.

In the middle of a photoshoot, while everyone’s focused on the “big” moments, I’m quietly watching those little hands…
because they won’t stay little for long.

And somehow, they always end up being the detail that means the most.

They won’t remember the perfectly clean house
or the nights you got everything “right”

but they will remember
how it felt to be with you

the yeses
the fun
the moments you stayed involved in them and not your phone

so here’s your permission
to be a little “bad” sometimes 🤍

what’s your favorite “bad mom” moment?

The snacks you packed but didn’t eat yourself.
The way you always take the smaller piece.
The way you are the last to get ready.
The nights you stayed up… even when no one knew you were exhausted.
The mental checklist that never turns off.
The way you notice who’s quiet, who’s off, who needs you.
Holding their feelings… even when yours feel heavy too.
Being their safe place, over and over again.
The guilt you carry for things they’ll never remember.
The way you try again tomorrow.
Loving them in ways they won’t understand until they’re grown.
Invisible doesn’t mean insignificant.

But they add up.
They matter.
More than we realize.

I feel so lucky getting to grow up near the lakeshore.

Sticky fingers from melted ice cream, sandy feet that never quite got clean, the sound of waves crashing while the sun dipped behind the water. Days that felt endless, filled with bike rides, beach toys, and wind in your hair.
It was simple. Slow.

These golden, sun soaked days became the ones we carry with us forever. 🌊✨

Core memories.
