Charleston…

Slide 2: That first pic is from my first Charleston wedding season. Film was new, the city was new, all of it was new. The second is recent. Charleston feels like mine now…and it still finds a way to surprise me.

What hasn’t changed is the feeling I get every time I’m back. The city still finds a way to feel brand new.

That’s what I want for your wedding here too. Someone who knows Charleston well enough to find the good light, locations, all of the goodness the city brings without missing it and who still falls for this place every single time.

A few film favorites from Heather and Rob’s day at The Armour House.

There is something about the way film renders pink. It’s soft and warm and a little dreamy and it’s the way you WANT a wedding to feel when you look back on it.

Film is also the reason those details are as considered as they are. Loading a roll means every frame matters, which means I’m slower, more deliberate and really seeing what’s in front of me before I press the shutter button. These images don’t happen by accident like some on my digital camera do and I love that!

And the thing about shooting film alongside digital is that the two don’t compete. They complement. The ones I slowed down for and the ones that happened fast and true. Your gallery gets both.

Two heritages, one evening and a room that held both at once.

Andres grew up in Argentina and somewhere in the long conversations before this day, it became clear: not choosing between two cultures, but weaving them into something new. A family of their own making. New traditions written together.

You could feel it everywhere. Emi’s cousin Jay on guitar through the ceremony. The glass broken underfoot. Chairs lifted high during the hora, hands reaching from every side of the family. Even the es**rt cards carried it. A handwritten letter and a portrait drawn just for them, waiting at each seat, including a treat from Andres and his beautiful world, so every guest arrived already seen.

The Armour House gave it all room to breathe. Nothing rushed and nothing staged. Authentic. REAL. And a dancefloor no one wanted to leave.

Two worlds, becoming one.

Some images you don’t plan for. You just can’t.

They come from the way people move together, the way a dress catches the light, the way someone forgets you’re there and simply exists in the middle of their wedding day.

But the ones I come back to most are the ones that feel the strongest, they all share something. A day with enough room to breathe. People who let themselves be inside the wedding they built instead of moving through it.

Some of those frames were half-accidents. A quick shutter at the right milli-second. The right place at the right time.

That’s what I’m always looking for.

They built a room that felt like the coast. Soft greens, dusty blues, and their favorite music at Venue3Two and then filled it with every person who matters to them.

You could feel it the moment people walked in. Nobody was looking for their table. They were just finding each other.

That was always the plan. A Michigan wedding that felt less like an event and more like the best dinner party of their lives. My favorite kind of wedding days!

Salt air and soft light and a couple who made the whole afternoon feel easy.

Jillian and Holden’s Charleston engagement session was one of those days that reminds me why I love this work. The way they moved together, unhurried and completely themselves. Jillian’s earrings, her dress, she came dressed for the coast and it all just worked.

Engagement photos in Charleston at the beach have always felt like home to me. There’s something about that open space and waterfront light that I keep coming back to.

Nobody was ready for the night to end.

That’s what a Gadsden House wedding feels like when it’s built with this much care. You just don’t want to leave it. Peper Events designed something that felt less like a reception and more like a dinner party Ava and Kyle had been building for years. Greens and whites, botanical china, hydrangeas covering the head table from every direction.

And woven through all of it, the things only the people who love them would catch. Kyle’s dad’s cufflinks on his wrist. A chair at the ceremony that his mom held close and never let go of.

Ava’s tulle scarf. Cash making his entrance like he’d been on the guest list all along. A bar that stopped people mid-conversation. And then the tambourines…what started as a send-off idea turned into a full concert by the second course, guests stomping and singing while the chandeliers shook overhead.

Outside, under an open Charleston sky, the first dances drew guests to both levels of the balcony. Leaning over the railings, watching an evening nobody wanted to call an end to. The tambourines led them all the way out. Loud and energetic…completely theirs. A bike cab with “just married” on the side was waiting.

It was the most PERFECT exit.
