Photographing friends is always a little extra special. 🥹 Some seasons deserve to be remembered forever. 🤍

Watching the love between a mama and her little boy is such a beautiful reminder of how quickly time passes. These moments may feel ordinary now, but one day they’ll be the memories you treasure most.

One of my favorite questions I sometimes ask to my mamas during sessions is, “What’s one word that describes this season of your life?” Without hesitation, Iyanah answered, resilience.

Motherhood isn’t always easy, but watching her show up with so much love, patience, and strength for Noah was inspiring. I’m so proud of her and grateful she trusted me to preserve this season for them. 🤎

GABBIE 🤍

First off, one of the sweetest girls I know. She has the most beautiful smile and always shows up with the best energy. It has been such an honor to photograph this incredible family through so many of their milestones. 🥹

What a day this was.

We had originally planned to reschedule after rain showed up in the forecast. Then, while I was out taking a walk with my dad the sun suddenly came out. I immediately called Angie and said, “I think we can make this happen! I can be in Plainwell in about 20 minutes.”

And we did.

We even heard a little warning thunder while Gabbie was changing into her last outfit, but we kept going. We finished the very last photo you see on the final slide and within minutes a light rain began. After loading all my camera gear back into my car it started pouring😭🙏🏽.

God truly showed up and showed out for us that evening. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, and I’m so grateful we trusted it. 🤍

There are some people who inspire you simply by the way they lead, love, and serve others. 🤍

Dr. Kenlana Ferguson has been one of my biggest role models for as long as I can remember. She’s family, and she’s known me since before I was even born. Watching the way she leads, serves others, and pours into our community has been such an inspiration throughout my life.

So getting the opportunity to photograph her and the incredible team at Michigan Transformation Collective was truly an honor.

🌸Michigan Transformation Collective is dedicated to bringing people together through racial healing, community engagement, and creating lasting, positive change throughout our communities. Being surrounded by people who are so passionate about making a difference was incredibly inspiring.

And can we talk about this team?! Everyone showed up looking so stylish, confident, and full of personality. They made my job easy.

Wedding Party Tips 🤍

Want smoother wedding party photos?

⚪️Have the getting-ready space cleaned up before your photographer arrives. A tidy room means less clutter in your photos and more time spent capturing moments.

⚪️Bridesmaids, check in with the bride throughout the day. Sometimes she needs help with her dress, bouquet, veil, water, or simply a moment to breathe.

⚪️Designate one person to gather the wedding party when it’s time for photos. This keeps everything moving smoothly and helps us maximize photo time.

⚪️Empty pockets, remove sunglasses, put phones away, and leave gum behind before photos begin.

⚪️Wear comfortable shoes when possible, especially if we’ll be walking between locations. You’ll enjoy the experience so much more when you’re comfortable.

⚪️Trust your photographer! We’ll guide posing, keep things moving, and make sure everyone looks their best.

A little preparation goes a long way in creating timeless wedding party portraits and a stress-free wedding day. 🤍📸
