Wildfire smoke dims the setting sun over Platte Lake and the mouth of the Platte River in late July 2025.

While the wildfire smoke currently blanketing Michigan is pretty bad with awful AQI, we made it a lot further into the summer compared to last year when hazy skies started earlier in June. Last year, the entire week I spent staying on Platte Lake was hazy.
