An office-to-residential conversion by Orion Construction at Residences at One Eleven, the “Fifth Third building”. The 10-story brutalist, international-style building was originally called One Vandenberg Center when it was built in 1966 for Old Kent Bank. The new lobby, featuring light fixtures repurposed from the building’s original mechanical system, provides a common space between 5/3 Bank’s regional headquarters on the first 3 floors and the residences above. Ample windows line the 140 apartment units from floors 4-10, providing scenic slices of downtown. The lower-level amenities and lounge area, dubbed The University Club, pays tribute to the social club that occupied the building before closing in 2023 after 100 years.
