ONLY FOUR MADE THE WHISTLE
Eight seconds doesn't sound like much until almost nobody gets there.
At the 90th XIT Rodeo & Reunion in Dalhart, Texas, the bulls had their way with most of the field. When the dust settled, only four cowboys had recorded qualified rides.
Colton Byram was the best of them.
Byram matched up with Hampton Pro Rodeo's Heartbreaker for 88 points, taking the XIT bull riding title and $4,516. Braxton Whitesell came within a point at 87, followed by Jace Trosclair at 80.5 and Nash Jones at 70.
Everyone else went home without a score.
Heartbreaker wasted little time showing what Byram was up against, exploding from the chute as Byram worked to stay centered through the opening jumps. Eight seconds later, he'd done what most of the field couldn't—and left Dalhart with the win.
