Dog rescue has brought some pretty wonderful things into our lives—including our two furry hooligans—and, somewhere along the way, a pretty wonderful friend.

So when she and her sister decided to get Mom in front of the camera for a Mom & Me session, I was ALL for it. And of course we couldn’t leave out daughter number three. She’s furry, walks on four legs, and don’t tell the others, but I’m pretty sure she’s the favorite. 😂

And Mom?! An absolute HOOT. She was giving her girls bunny ears, laughing through half the session, completely game for all of our shenanigans, and eventually coming up with her own poses. On my way to this session, I was a little bit worried because I’m so used to working with the ten-and-under crowd, but these beautiful ladies made my job perfectly easy. ♥️

Yesterday was round two of Homeschool Picture Day — which I’m seriously considering renaming Not Your Average School Picture Day 😂 — and as always, the kiddos and their families were an absolute joy to work with!

It is so much fun seeing all the different personalities, the different outfits, the kiddos who are incredibly shy versus the ones who walk in ready to lead the whole show.

Yesterday was especially sweet because out of the ten families I photographed, nine were repeat families from last year! Not only did I get to see all those kiddos a whole year bigger, but so many of them walked right up already completely comfortable with me — and that’s pretty darn cool.

This year’s sessions sold out lightning fast, and I may possibly offer another round in the spring! So if you happen to be a fellow homeschool family and don’t want to miss the next one, be sure you’re following along. 🥰

A while back I did a poll on if you guys wanted to continue with sneak peeks or not, and it was a resounding YES. So I’m committed to keeping up with sneaks, except I can no longer promise that they’ll come within 24 hours. It might be a week later or at 11pm. Or both! 🙃

And speaking of sneak peeks, how about this family!? We had exactly ONE date that lined up for both of our schedules, and Mother Nature tried pretty daggone hard to sabotage that, too. But we threw caution to the wind and went for it anyways and HOW STINKING GORGEOUS.

Normally, I’m a give me all of the painted-sky sunsets kind of girl, but there was something about this foggy, almost watercolor backdrop that was truly stunning. Not to mention the beach was practically empty, and we had such a fun time wandering around and laughing.

There may have also been an attempt to break a toe, and I’ll leave whose toe that was up to the imagination. 😂 But truly, what a great evening with such a fun and outgoing family!

A whole heap of updates and no real order!

First things first!
One of my favorite things outside of capturing memories for all of you is entering the zoo calendar photo contest each year. If you happen to have this year’s calendar, or calendars from the past, flip through and see if you can find my name on any of the pictures — I won the cover two years ago! The sweet friend in the picture below will be in the coming 2027 calendar. 🥰🦦

Fall. 🍁
There are two spots left for fall mini sessions on October 17th. Beyond those, I am pretty much completely out of September availability and most of October has filled as well. Ironically, the two weeks that had any openings were the final two weeks of October — the most likely time for peak fall colors!

After a lot of consideration, I am going to do something a little different this year and open up a Tuesday evening both weeks for additional mini sessions making 8️⃣ open mini session slots instead.

Fall filled in so fast that I feel like this gives me, and all of you, the biggest additional opportunity to work together! This will be my ONLY remaining availability for September and October (unless we have previously chatted).

Sunflowers. 🌻
Thistleberry announced their sunflower field dates today! In my polls last week, sunflowers had an overwhelming response. If you are definitely interested in sunflower minis let me know below or shoot me a message. These would be Thursday, October 1st or Saturday, October 3rd.

And lastly… Christmas. 🎄
Sometimes in the land of juggling all things medical, my time is not my own. And even with the best of intentions, what I think is iron clad isn’t. We’ve had a major shift in our November schedule which is actually working out for the better, and I am going to restructure Christmas mini session dates.

If you are a tree farm mini — that’s NOT changing! Those will remain November 7th and there are a couple slots left. If you are interested in indoor Christmas photos, those will shift later into November and I’ll announce more details soon!

A late night sneak of the cutest mommy and me session!

The weather was absolutely NOT interested in cooperating, but little man said let’s do it anyways so we did. And gosh am I glad.

They painted canvases, painted each other, made a gigantic mess and we ALL laughed pretty much the entire time. ♥️

Also, please take a moment to appreciate my little wooden ladder in these pictures because she will quite literally never be the same. 😂

Last year I hosted my first Homeschool Picture Day after an admin of a local homeschool group reached out to me. I was super nervous, having never done anything quite like it, but it went so well—and was such a blessing to my heart—that I decided to make it an annual thing. ♥️

Not long after I graduated, Trace Adkins released
a song called “You’re Gonna Miss This” and I remember my parents really liking it. I specifically remember leaving my sister’s once and dad singing it to my sister—deep in the trenches of parenting two toddlers—before we left.

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days
hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

As a parent myself now, boy do I get it.
And I think this family gets it too. ♥️

Four kids means there is always somebody moving, somebody laughing, somebody crying, somebody needing something, and maaaaybe someone running in the opposite direction (not that we experienced that or anything). But somewhere in all that beautiful chaos are the days you know you’ll someday wish you could step back into for just a minute and that’s the beauty of this job I love so much—documenting it.

As I listened to mom talk about how these pictures were for her, so she could someday look back and remember the days of kitty unicorn tutu dresses and “look how small they were” and sweet cheesy grins, I found myself thinking about that song, how true it is, and how these really are the good times.

While I’m not behind on editing, I am very behind on sneak peeks. So, much delayed, a sneak peek of this young man!

Senior sessions have been a favorite of mine for a very long time because of their individuality. On the regular, I’m probably most comfortable playing ring around the rosie with your two-year-old, but man, seniors. There’s truly something so incredibly special about watching a young person who is eager and excited to start stepping out into the real world.

Not only do I love chatting with them about what’s to come, but I love that every single session is incredibly different. The things they bring that speak to who they are, the places they choose that mean something to them, and the way that every last one of them still seems to appreciate having their mom along for the ride. ♥️

This young man did something I haven’t had a senior do before — he took me to his church. I thought it was really special to bring his faith into his session. AND… the bell tower in one of these photos? His grandpa made that!

After church, we ventured to their family farm and adventured all over the property in their Gator, truly having the most enjoyable evening. I may or may not have had to edit 972 mosquitoes out of these photos, and I’m betting he is still itching, but the photos were definitely worth it!

Pupppppies and announcements. (But mostly pupppppies!) 😍😍😍

I am down to about 3(ish) week day dates left for fall for full sessions.

I can still add a session to:
September 27th - October 3rd.
October 18th - October 24th.
October 25th - October 31st.

🍁 🍂 Those last two weeks are going to be very close to peak fall colors! 🍁 🍂

We also learned a long time ago that as a medical family, sometimes your life and schedule are not your own. We’ve had a shake-up in our appointments that will affect Christmas (in a good way!). Sometime this weekend I’ll be adding some polls to my stories to best determine how I can serve you for holiday photos and I’d love if you would watch for them and weigh in!

The sweetest house guests we’ve ever had!

•They’re 13 weeks old.
•Thought to be Chihuahua, miniature pincher and maybe pug (they have curly tails). Let’s just call them small breed dreamboats!
•15-25 pounds full grown.
•Sleeping through the night! 🎉
•Doing well with early potty training.
•OBSESSED with kids.
