Melissa Cate Photography Hello and welcome! I founded Melissa Cate Photography in 2011. I specialize in photographing births, and have photographed nearly 400 over the last 9 years.

Mama was snuggling the first of her twins, when, without taking her eyes off her firstborn, calmly said "The next baby is out." Sure enough, the midwife quickly caught the baby and brought her up out of the water, just 2.5 minutes after the first baby. I've worked with this Mama before, and I am constantly amazed at her poise and calm as she brings babies into the world! These sweet twins just celebrated their 1st birthday on Summer Solstice. (I'm a little behind catching up on first birthday posts!)

Who here watches Call the Midwife?? If not, why don't you? Ha, it's one of my favorite shows of all time, and the birth scenes are so accurate. 70% of my births have been Midwife attended births and I connect so deeply with the characters of Call the Midwife because of how many hours I worked alongside midwives! This picture is such an accurate representation of what Midwifery care usually looks like.

And then there were 3 precious girls. Over the past 9 years I have photographed the birth of 200+ families and it never gets old. But my greatest joy in birth photography is working with repeat clients. I've had multiple four-peat, three-peat, and repeat clients, and documenting the growth and adding of siblings is SO FUN. This is one of those beautiful families I've worked with for three births, three sweet girls, all born in the same birth room!
