The Redwoods can create some of the most INSANE light… but you have to know how to find it. 🌲☀️

Those dreamy rays you see coming through the trees? I’m paying attention to time of day, direction of the sun, openings in the canopy, my shooting angle AND exactly where I position my couple.

Sometimes moving you just a few feet—or changing the direction I’m shooting—can take an image from pretty forest light to THIS.

And this is one of the reasons location planning for my couples goes way beyond sending you a pin and saying, “meet me here.”

I’m planning around how that location photographs.

Because in the Redwoods, the right location matters.

But knowing the light matters just as much.
