The Big Bend region of West Texas is our favorite place in the Lone Star State. We honeymooned there more than 10 years ago and return every chance we get. We love everything about it—the rugged Chihuahuan Desert, the Chisos Mountains, the Rio Grande winding through towering canyons…AND THE WILDLIFE!
Those diverse landscapes create a truly unique ecosystem, home to black bears, mountain lions, coyotes, javelina, bighorn sheep and pronghorn. There are more than 450 species of birds, 75 species of mammals and 60 species of cacti. Some species of the plants and animals are found nowhere else in the world. And did I mention it’s an International Dark Sky Reserve?
Its remote awesomeness gives you the feeling that this is one of the last truly wild places left in the country.
Help steward and protect Big Bend by opposing border wall construction in that region and supporting border security strategies that safeguard this national treasure.
