There’s something wild about connecting with someone states apart over a shared endeavor, and then getting to actually stand in the same room together.

Meet Hannah, owner of Studio 702 in Sedalia, Missouri.

Last week, she and her partner Kendall made the trip to visit me and Sixteenth St. Studio. When Hannah first reached out to tell me she’d be in Colorado and was hoping to come say hello in person, I definitely squealed behind the screen! ☺️ The thing is, Hannah’s actually my longest studio friend on Instagram. We’ve been cheering each other on from afar for more than two years now, always in each other’s corners. Until last week though, we’d never actually been in the same room.

Literally, my heart was so happy. I still can’t believe we got to meet in person!

Today I turn 34, and I want to share the birthday fun with you all!

After several of you sent me this viral wood partition, I’m happy to share it now lives in our photo studio. Here’s a few fun ways to style it. 🧡

This baby is heavy, 7 feet tall, and the edges are a bit fragile. Please take care while setting it up, and always ensure it has a curve in it so it does actually stand up. Watch till the end and you’ll see my mistake. 🤣

If you have to wait till after you get off work to visit our Northern Colorado photo studio, don’t worry! This is the studio at 7:30pm right now. Light is more directional to our east wall, so things are a bit more moody than our usual diffused soft box that our studio tends to be. Still a perfect opportunity to get beautiful light if your schedule doesn’t allow you to come during the day. 🧡

Our studio assistant and resident studio mom, Fran (my mom), has officially received a no evidence of disease diagnosis after her chemo treatment and surgery. We are over the moon with this news!

I share this here because some of you have had the privilege of meeting her while she’s helped out around the studio. She’s often an extra set of hands with seasonal sets, or a friendly face at the door when I’m away. If you’ve been coming in for a while, you’ve maybe crossed paths with her.

She is such a warrior. These photos were taken back in February during treatment, but I just want to take a public moment to say how proud I am of the strength she’s shown through all of her treatment. So grateful for this news! 🧡

With a 24 foot cyclorama wall, studio lighting, furniture, props, and additional backdrops available, we’ve curated our Northern Colorado photo studio to be ready to support you in your creativity.

Also, the rafters in our ceiling double as an extra hand for hanging things easily such as fabrics, decor, or canvases. Just (safely) hop on our four foot ladder to customize!

Playing with the gobos on the spotlight is always a good time. This specific scene I wanted to create for our cat Po. The photoshoot lasted one second 🤣 but hey we got a shot at least!

I used one of the window gobos, and our Nanlite USA 300 full rgb light. I’ve been really enjoying playing with full spectrum color, and I decided to go with a warm sunset hue for this look instead of just a kelvin option.

So, meet Posho. He comes to the studio in his backpack sometimes. This was his split second shining moment. Lol 😆

This modifier and light are both available for you as an add-on when you book our photography studio. It comes with a full kit of gobos to play with! Or, keep it classic with the round spotlight.
