What if your purpose isn’t to fit in, but to let God shine through you?
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about purpose. A few weeks ago, I found myself questioning if I was really good at photography, wondering where I fit in and comparing myself to others in a space that can feel crowded and competitive. I was chasing where I fit in with the world, instead of focusing on how I could serve God through the gifts He has given me.
Photography has always been something I have loved. It is not my full-time job, but it is a creative outlet, a way to capture moments, make people happy, and share beauty. For a while, though, it felt like it was just for me, and I struggled to see the bigger meaning behind it.
Through a church class on vocation, I learned that our gifts, our work, hobbies, and relationships, are ways God shows His grace in the world. Our calling is not about living for the world’s approval. It is about using the gifts He has given us, even in small ways, to show His love and reflect His grace.
1 Peter 4:10 says:
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
Since that moment, every time I pick up my camera, I am reminded of the beauty God has created. Grace shows up in the way we notice beauty, treat others with care, and capture moments with intention and love. Every field, every animal, every smile reminds us that God works through us in ways we may not always realize.
Purpose is not about fitting in with the world. It is about living for God and letting Him move through us.
