Kirsten and Andrew stayed in a boat-in campsite while their families stayed in the villas at Devils Fork State Park. During a week of swimming, fishing, and boating with their families; they had their wedding ceremony with the mountains and water behind them.

Kirsten and Andrew’s wedding is on the blog, and so is everything you should know about getting married here. Check it out because it’s one of my favorite places in the whole state!

Three of my favorite South Carolina State Parks are right here in the upstate, and I’ve gotten to do wedding photos at all three this year. Table Rock, Caesars Head, and Devils Fork all have views of the mountains that don’t take any hiking. They also all have multiple waterfalls. Which state park is your favorite?

Read about all of these parks (and every other park in South Carolina) on the blog!

Somehow it’s September already, and now it’s the time of year where everything speeds up. In upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina, this is peak tourism season and there’s no shortage of things to do. Make sure you’re booking everything (hotels, restaurants, photographers, etc.) as soon as you possibly can.

The best fall color will usually be at higher elevations (North Carolina), but the South Carolina Botanical Gardens will always have something pretty throughout the fall. For more information on finding the best fall color, head to the blog!

Kirsten and Andrew had a weeklong trip at Lake Jocassee with their immediate families and were married right in the middle of it. Everyone in the family contributed to the wedding, from catching and frying the fish they shared that night to finding each flower for Kirsten’s bouquet and doing Kirsten’s hair and makeup. I can’t wait to share more from this beautiful day!

I can’t believe it’s almost time for college football and picking apples! September through November is usually the busiest time of year for my photography. I had so much fun going to all these beautiful places with awesome couples last fall, and I can’t believe we’re almost right back there again. I hope the stars align with the weather and my schedule like they did last year!

South Carolina isn’t exactly a leaf-peeping state because of the temperature and the types of trees that grow here, but the upstate will still get a little color for a short time. The earliest fall color will show up in the mountains and will peak in late October. The botanical gardens in Clemson will have the widest window for foliage since they’re very intentional with the trees there.

I can’t say “the couple with the green dress and kilt” anymore because now I can describe two couples that way! Even then, they went in such different directions with it.

One of the things I love about weddings is that you can stick with the traditions that matter the most to you and not do the others at all. It’s your day to shine, so run with it!

For a long and hot month with zero holidays, August is looking pretty busy and exciting! Of course there’s cool photo stuff in store for this month, but I’ll also get to see some cool live shows, explore a part of the mountains I’ve never seen, and maybe pick some grapes and apples.

If you’re new here, hi! I’m Christine and I’m a photographer in the not-beach corner of South Carolina. I love all your non-traditional wedding ideas and will help you make the day as chill and oddball as you want it to be.

Fun facts about me:
⛰️My husband, my dog, and I got our Ultimate Outsider certificate in 2022, which means we visited every state park in South Carolina. They’ve opened a few more parks since then, so we have to make some road trips at some point.
🤸🏼‍♂️ I’ve had two gymnastics birthday parties in my life: my 6th and my 30th.
🫐 We’ve picked so many blueberries this summer that I’ve eaten them almost every day since mid-June. I make muffins sometimes with them, but I mostly eat them fresh.

I got two different bouquets and three boutonnières from Sola Wood Flowers so any couple I work with can borrow them ☺️

First of all, I’ve had a few people forget their flowers and not realize it with enough time to go back and get them.

Second of all, I figured it’s a good option for people who just want to have flowers for a few photos and don’t necessarily want their own custom bouquet.

I got a white bouquet that can go with any color scheme and I customized a rainbow one (pictured here 😍) for people like me who want ALL the colors. The boutonnières are white, which coordinate with either bouquet.

Read more on my blog about why so many of my couples have chosen Sola Wood Flowers and whether this is right for you. No, this is not sponsored.
