One thing that never gets old: seeing people see Caesars Head for the first time.

The drive up to Caesars Head is mostly through the woods and you don’t pass any overlooks as you’re driving up. If the trees aren’t full yet, you might get a teaser of the view from the parking lot, but you won’t see this until you come around the corner on the walkway.

I stopped in one of my favorite places after yesterday’s wedding in the mountains 😍 Caesars Head State Park is becoming one of the most common places people ask me for and it’s by far the state park I’ve spent the most time in.

Here’s a little bit of what life looks like right now:

⚾️ We got tickets for a baseball game at the 2028 Olympics! LA has never been on our radar as a travel destination, so we welcome any and all recommendations for things to do and places to eat.

🎶 This spring, I’ve seen 3 concerts in Greenville. Chicago was on my bucket list since my early teens, Collective Soul is always a good time, and Weird Al was so cool!

✏️ I bought myself a little sketchbook and started drawing again. I took one art class in high school and loved it, but I hadn’t really done much art since college. I’ve come a long way with photography in the time since then and I feel like that’s made me better at drawing.

You can always follow my photo adventures on my blog, including reading all about the beautiful place in this photo.

I had my second-ever order for a green album cover, and I realized I never showed the first one! The green and gold together give me fantasy/forest vibes and I’m obsessed. That couple’s elopement is still a secret for a few more months, so I’m not showing their names or identifying photos here. The ceremony was at Table Rock and the green goes really nicely with the grass and trees there.

I usually have an album cover color in mind when I look through photos. Sometimes I go off of what colors the couple used and sometimes I go off of what colors the location had. Red with gold writing has been my most common one so far, especially for fall weddings. I’ve had a few couples lately who specifically ask for something that goes with their living room furniture. I never would have thought of that, but I love it!

I was asked by another couple how I actually come up with the album designs. I hadn’t really thought about it before. I knew that I sort through the photos and make a folder of ones I want for the album, but from there, I just kind of throw stuff into the program and see how I like it. I aim to show everything I can without being repetitive, and varying angles so each photo stands out. I realized afterwards that the ones that take up the whole spread get placed first. I think about those before I even start editing. Usually, it’s a photo where the couple is far away from me and off-center—gotta love that rule of thirds! The middle doesn’t get distorted because the albums are designed to lay flat and stay open.

Side note: every wedding includes an album and I have so much fun putting them together. For a lot of couples, nobody is there besides the officiant and me, so other people will only see the wedding through my point of view.

Madison and Charles were literally in the clouds on their wedding day 😍 they were married at the gorgeous Cliffs at Glassy Chapel with a small group of their family members and close friends. The weather gave us enough small windows of time to take photos outside without fog or thunder over us.

Right now, I have 3 couples whose wedding photos have not been posted online yet because I’m one of the select few people who know it happened. Being part of a wedding is an honor I don’t take lightly, but it’s also really cool to be one of the only people who knows about it.

While eloping doesn’t necessarily mean the wedding is a secret, some people prefer not to be watched during an emotional moment and they don’t want other people knowing yet that they missed it. Each of these three couples has a unique story and wedding experience, and they all have plans to celebrate with their families another time. I can’t wait to share their photos once the time comes!

(Not this couple, they eloped in September and their families knew)

Alex and Tommy stayed at Hôtel Domestique, so we stopped there for a few photos after their Pretty Place ceremony and before their Topsoil brunch. Since we were up so early for the sunrise, we were still awake before most people and it was a very quiet morning. Check out the blog for more photos from their beautiful elopement day!

“I saw those Star Wars photos on your website!” — every couple I meet with

I don’t know that I’m necessarily considered part of the fandom (like I’m still confused how witches exist in the Star Wars universe), but it’s one I keep getting more and more involved with. I’ve learned that taking photos of light sabers is a refined skill set that not a lot of people have learned, but I’ve now done it enough to be pretty comfortable with it.

May the 4th be with you!
