Spent yesterday evening mostly dodging the heat and hanging with Erica and Patrick!
I love the challenge of photographing in a place I've been numerous times. Something can always be adjusted, a new corner can always be found. It's a good challenge.

Erica and Patrick weren't a challenge, though. They were a joy! Snuck a little test shot into slide 5 because it was too cute. Thanks for hangin' with me! ☺️

If your week has been anything like mine, it's been insanity. Take a break and scroll through some intensely good vibes from Alexandria and Ty's heartful, wonderful day!
Alex and Ty are best friends. When I first spoke to them in *checks notes* FEBRUARY OF 2025, that's the first thing they said about each other. And it's so dang true.
One thing they didn't tell me was how they make you feel like you're their best friend! Everyone at the wedding felt that. A room full of their best friends. Alex and Ty are warm, joyful, determined, and passionate people, and I'm feeling excessively blessed to have been there with too many cameras.

Mal and Mik chose to do one of my favorite wedding formats which is the famous "weekday courthouse ceremony, weekend reception."

This split, I feel, maximizes a few things:

Chill factor - low pressure at basically every point

Party time - two separate days means your wedding is a full week! Add a little dinner after your courthouse ceremony for maximum people time ☺️

Excitement!!! - those one or two days between the ceremony and reception are special. Friends and family begin to arrive, the excitement builds, and you get to hang with your person as a married couple through it all.
Mal and Mik are good, kind folks. Their wedding was replete with good, kind folks. They hugged their friends, danced with their many nieces, and laughed at Dad's wildly energetic toast. And I got to stand on the Judge's desk.

Good stuff abounds!

10,000 photos taken = 10,000 hugs I wanna give to Claire and Rob for trusting me with their day. I remember walking around cocktail hour, taking photos of everyone having an amazing time, and just having this out of body experience saying " I cannot believe I get to do this as my job."
Claire and Rob are both beloved parts of the Innsbrook family and we've gotten close over the last few years of working weddings together! Seeing my wedding buddies, Bri, Victoria, and Bella as guests and not staff that day was super duper special.
Claire and Rob are kind, joyful, and magnetic people. I would like to be like them when I grow up. 🥰 Congrats, my friends!

Indescribably lucky to have been immersed in Caitlyn and Sean's day. Weather and logistics be damned, it's nothing that a few umbrellas from the back of my car can't solve!

Puddles become opportunities, the rain drops on a suit jacket become a story, and an indoor ceremony just means we're all that much more cozy together.

If you asked me to pick a favorite slide from this post, it would be impossible... But handing Caitlyn and Sean my camera during the ceremony is up there. As is peeking through the arbor ☺️.

Very thankful for Emily and Brandon and their kindness, humor, and for committing to the bit and making a unity margarita for their ceremony. Likely the tastiest, warmest, most special-est margarita they'll ever share. ♥️
Not pictured here is their welcome party the day before. I LOVE photographing welcome parties (or rehearsal dinners, sameish thing) because it gives me the chance to meet all your favorite people in a low-stress environment.
Emily and Brandon's wedding day was already amazing, but it was so much more meaningful already having heard Tom's poetry, goofing around with Rebecca and Shannon, and gathering all of Mary's siblings for a photo.

Grace and Luke with their people. With her grandpa, with his 1000 nieces and nephews, with their dear friends and family, and with their puppies (which are people).
Weddings are full of people. Sometimes two, sometimes two hundred. More often than not, it's a combination of people that physically won't ever gather under one roof again. This isn't some deep, niche observation, it's simply the reason why I love this job.
10 years ago, I photographed my very first wedding at Schwarz barn for my friends Nick and Ashley. I charged them basically $3 and a firm handshake, but I remember just having an absolute blast! Now, 10 years later, the venue has long since added air conditioning and bathrooms, and I'm still addicted to capturing people in love and people celebrating people in love. This is the good stuff, y'all.

When I first spoke with Ilie and Kate, what stuck out to me the absolute MOST was how they spoke about each other. The ease with which they praised and lifted each other up was apparent and our conversation was so life-giving.
In traditional Pashtun weddings, the couple looks into a mirror that is handed to them during the ceremony. Ilie and Kate wanted that to be a private moment shared between them after the ceremony, so after the formalities, we hopped back into the suite for a quiet moment. They were (and are) inseparable! So, I asked them to tell each other how much they appreciate each other - how much their partner means to them. I quietly slipped away into the other room, took a few photos of the tears and hugs, and left them alone to soak in the rest of that moment with each other.
Ilie and Kate are joy-filled, kind, gracious, and intentional, as was every beloved guest that joined them that day at a small venue on Cherokee street. This is the good s**t, y'all. ♥️
