Kelsey Hutton is in North Platte this week competing for Miss Rodeo Nebraska Association during NEBRASKAland DAYS, and I am so here to shout a big ol' GOOOOOOD LUCK! 💛🍀

Its been fun to witness parts of this girl's journey, from cheering on her days running for Twisted TURN N BURN NFRP Queen to watching her reign as Miss Wahoo Rodeo to photographing her headshots for this very application. She has put in the work.

The Nebraska Ranch Horse Association's Ranch Horse Stakes is this weekend and I'll be in Broken Bow starting on Friday. Last year was my first time photographing for the NeRHA, and this community pulled me in! It's the way everyone out there is genuinely invested in each other's growth in this sport. Good people doing cool things with good horses. I'm glad to be back!

This morning I’m on my little porch, sunburned from working in my flower and garden beds yesterday, coffee going cold in my mug, and I can’t stop thinking about the people who made this Memorial Day possible. The slow morning. The unhurried hours. And nowhere I have to be, thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy our freedoms.

Someone made a hard decision so I could have this. A lot of someones did. And a lot of them didn’t make it back. Their families carry that. Every year, every holiday, every ordinary day that doesn’t feel ordinary to them at all.

Today let’s remember. I’m sitting with a grateful heart for every freedom I take for granted on a regular day, and for every person lost too soon so I could have it. 🇺🇸
