One of the biggest misconceptions I hear from couples is:
“Have you photographed at our venue before?”
The truth? A photographer having shot at your venue isn’t what makes your wedding photos exceptional.
Light is different every season. Every wedding has a unique timeline, different weather, different florals, different emotions, and a completely different love story. Your gallery should never feel like a copy of someone else’s simply because it was taken in the same location.
I’d even argue there’s something incredibly valuable about walking into a venue with fresh eyes. Instead of recreating the same “must-have” shots from the last wedding there, I’m looking for your moments, your light, and your story. Creativity thrives when you’re inspired by the couple in front of you, not by a mental checklist of photos you’ve already taken.
A beautiful venue is simply the backdrop. The real magic comes from knowing how to find light, anticipate emotion, create connection, and tell a story that feels unmistakably yours.
So if you’re choosing between photographers, don’t ask, “Have they been here before?”
Ask, “Can they create something that feels like us?”
That’s the difference between documenting a venue and preserving a legacy.
