Shawna L Reichert Photography As a photographer, I love to shoot families, senior portraits, landscapes and so much more. Call for an appointment at 307-331-9780.

Becoming a photographer wasn't something I chose, it was more like photography chose me. As far back as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with photographs. I love how photography can capture a moment in time and tell a story. As a photographer, my intention is to always try to seize those special moments for my clients throughout our session. I love taking senior portraits, family portraits, nature photos, and urban settings.

Not all strength is loud.

Out here, you see the show.
Turkeys fanned wide.
Feathers stretched.
Chests pushed forward.
A performance meant to look like power.

And for a moment… it works.
It draws attention.
It fills the space.

But it doesn’t last.

Because real strength doesn’t have to announce itself.

Even in nature,
not everything that puffs up is in control.

There is a quieter kind of leader.
The one who stands steady when everything around them is noise.
The one who doesn’t fight to be seen
because they already know who they are.

The ones who make the biggest display
are often the ones trying the hardest to be noticed.

But the ones grounded in truth
don’t need to prove a thing.

They stand.
They lead.
They endure.

Because real leadership isn’t built on volume
It’s built on integrity.

God doesn’t call the loudest
He calls the willing, the steady, the faithful.

That’s the kind of strength that lasts.

Truth doesn’t have to raise its voice to be known.

Today is Good Friday.

The day He knew He would die.

He knew the nails were coming.
He knew the weight of the cross.
He knew the people He loved would turn their backs on Him.

And still… He chose it.

He could have walked away.
He had every right to.
But He didn’t.

Because He was thinking of us.

Every step toward that cross
was taken out of love.
Not for a crowd that cheered Him
but for a world that would reject Him.

For you.
For me.

And even there… on the cross
in the middle of unimaginable pain
He was still giving.

A man beside Him, guilty and broken,
asked to be remembered.

And Jesus didn’t turn away.

He forgave him.

In His final moments
He was still saving.

And through it all
He trusted His Father.

Even in the pain.
Even in the silence.
Even when everything in front of Him looked like the end.

He trusted the promise.
He knew this was not the end of the story.
He knew life was coming.

That kind of faith…
to walk straight into suffering
and still trust what you cannot yet see.

We live that more than we realize.

Sometimes it looks like this.

A road you can’t fully see.
A bend that hides what’s ahead.
No clear ending in sight.

And still… you keep going.

Not because you have proof.
But because you trust.

Trust that the road is still there.
Trust that you won’t go off the edge.
Trust that what you can’t see doesn’t mean it’s gone.

He walked that road all the way to death
so we could have life.

Not because we earned it.
Not because we deserved it.
But because He loves us that much.

So when the road disappears in front of you
when everything feels like it’s falling apart
when you can’t see what comes next

Remember this

Even on the cross
He was forgiving
He was saving
He was loving

And death didn’t win.

Life did.

And if He trusted His Father through the cross
you can trust Him with whatever road you’re on.

Even this one.

The Osprey

He lives between two worlds
sky above him
water below

never fully belonging to just one

and most of us understand that
more than we like to admit

we stand in one place
while being pulled by another
trying to balance who we are
with what is expected of us

He watches
steady
certain

until the moment comes

and when it does
he doesn’t hesitate

he leaves one world completely
and trusts the other to catch him

When he hits the water
there is a moment
where he can’t see

no clarity
no control
just instinct

and still
he goes

And when he rises
he doesn’t come back empty

he carries the weight
of what he chose

proof that the risk was real
that the moment mattered

and somehow
he finds his way back to the air
adjusting
aligning
moving forward

maybe that’s what we’re all doing

learning how to live between two worlds
taking the leap when it’s time
even when we can’t see

and rising again
carrying everything we chose along the way

I didn’t wait for this moment.
I saw him and I moved.

No overthinking.
No second guessing.
Just instinct and a camera in my hands.

He was already there, steady on the branch,
watching the world like he knew exactly where he belonged.

And then it happened.

A shift you could feel before you could see it.
A gathering of power.
Wings opening with purpose.

And in a heartbeat he let go.

Not because it was safe.
Not because it was easy.
But because he trusted what he was made to do.

That is the part I cannot stop thinking about.

As a photographer, you hope to capture something beautiful,
but every once in a while, you capture something honest.

I did not just take these photos.
I fell in love with them.

With the instinct.
With the strength in that moment.
With the split second where everything changes.

Because the truth is, we do not always get time to prepare.

Sometimes you just see it,
you trust yourself,
and you take the shot.

And sometimes in life you do the same.

You do not wait until you feel ready.
You move when it is in front of you.

And you trust your wings will catch you.

Two great blue herons stand in shallow water, completely still.

No urgency.
No noise.
No need to prove anything.

Great blue herons don’t chase opportunity. They position themselves for it. They watch, they wait, and when the moment comes, they act with precision. No wasted energy. No second-guessing.

That’s leadership.

Too many people confuse movement with progress. They react too quickly, speak too often, and make decisions before they fully understand what is actually happening. That isn’t strength. That’s a lack of discipline.

Real leaders don’t rush.
They pay attention.
They discern.

Because not every open door is meant for you.
And not every moment is yours to act on.

Sometimes the assignment is to be still.
To trust that where you are standing is not an accident, but placement.

God does not work in chaos. He works in timing.

There is a time to move.
And there is a time to stand firm.

Knowing the difference is where wisdom lives.

Stillness is not passive.
It is obedience. It is trust. It is strength.

And when God says move…
you don’t hesitate.

I almost walked right past this.

Tucked down in the dirt, easy to miss.
Most would probably call it a w**d and keep going.

But something made me stop.

And I’m glad I did.

Because right there, in the middle of everything ordinary, God placed something quietly beautiful. No perfect setting. No careful tending. Just growing exactly where it was meant to be.

It reminded me that God’s work isn’t always loud or obvious.

Sometimes it’s found in the smallest details, the things we almost overlook.

How many moments like this do we miss because we’re moving too fast?

How often are we waiting for something big, when God is already showing us His presence in the little things?

A tiny flower pushing through the dirt
growing anyway
blooming anyway

That’s His reminder.

Spring shows up whether we notice it or not.
But the beauty in it… that’s something we have to slow down and see.

And sometimes, the most beautiful things God creates are the ones the world is quickest to call a w**d.

A juvenile bald eagle stands in the current. Not yet marked by the white head and tail people recognize, but already carrying the strength it was created with.

The water is moving fast. The wind doesn’t ease up. Nothing about this moment is gentle. And still, it stands with its footing set, wings slightly out, focused on what is right in front of it.

That is what transition looks like.

Not polished.
Not certain.
Not always comfortable.

Just a quiet decision to stay grounded when everything around you feels like it’s shifting.

This young Bald Eagle has not yet grown into what people expect an eagle to look like, but it is already exactly what God created it to be in this moment.

And maybe that is the reminder.

You do not have to have it all figured out to stand strong.
You do not have to look the part to carry the purpose.
You do not have to be finished to be faithful.

God does not waste seasons of becoming. He uses them.

So if you find yourself in a place where life feels uncertain, where things are changing, where you are learning to find your footing again, take heart in this.

You are not behind.
You are not unprepared.
You are not alone in the current.
You are being shaped, strengthened, and positioned for what comes next.

Even here, especially here, God is still at work.

Above Soldier Bridge

The other day near Fort Laramie, above the old Soldier Bridge, I looked up and saw him.

A bald eagle perched high in the bare branches.

The Wyoming wind was strong that day. You could hear it rushing through the cottonwoods and feel it moving across the open land. The branches swayed beneath him.

But he did not.

He held his place above the river, steady and watchful, as if the wind itself had no power over him.

There are moments when creation feels like a quiet message.

Moments when God lets the natural world remind us of truths we sometimes forget.

The eagle did not fear the wind.

He understood it.

What feels like resistance to us is often the very thing an eagle uses to rise.
The same wind that shakes the branches is the wind that carries him higher into the sky.

God has a way of working like that in our lives.

The struggles that feel like they might push us down are often the very things He uses to strengthen us. The storms we question become the currents that shape us.

And that is where leadership is born.

Not in comfort.
Not in calm skies.
But in the moments when the wind is strong and we learn to stand steady anyway.

The eagle above the old Soldier Bridge seemed to know this.

Balanced in the branches.
Unshaken by the wind.
Watching everything below with quiet strength.

A reminder that faith steadies us.

And when faith steadies us, we can lead the same way the eagle lives.

Not fighting the wind.

But rising because of it.
