What a weekend it was in Newport. šŸŒŠā›µļø

Despite the crazy heat, there’s nowhere I’d rather be than by the water. A few days of ocean air and coastal views before diving into another full week ahead.

This week brings a maternity session, an engagement session, client consults, and a beautiful Friday wedding, and I couldn’t be more excited. Looking forward to a week filled with wonderful people gorgeous New England summer light.

One of the biggest concerns I hear before an engagement session is: ā€œWe’re awkward in front of the camera.ā€

Bri and Jeff said something very similar when we started their session at Harkness Memorial State Park, and by the end of the evening they were completely immersed in the experience, laughing, exploring, and simply enjoying being together.

The secret to natural engagement photos isn’t knowing how to pose, it’s letting go of the idea that you need to perform for the camera. The more you focus on your partner instead of the lens, the more genuine your images will feel. My job is to guide you every step of the way with prompts and direction that create movement, connection, and moments that actually feel like you.

A few of my favorite engagement session tips:
✨ Choose outfits that feel comfortable and authentic to your style.
✨ Plan a date night afterward so the session feels like part of your evening.
✨ Trust the process and don’t worry about what to do with your hands: I promise I’ve got you covered.
✨ Focus on each other, not the camera.
✨ Embrace the unexpected moments, those often become the favorites.

Bri and Jeff absolutely leaned into the experience, and the result was a gallery full of genuine laughter, sweet moments, and the kind of images that feel effortless and timeless.

I cannot wait to celebrate with these two on their wedding day later this year!

Some wedding days are so beautiful, so full of love and intention, that you wish you could relive them again and again, and Ari & Pat’s day at Owenego Inn was exactly that.
Set against the Connecticut shoreline, every detail of this day reflected who Ari and Pat are as a couple. Together, they poured so much thought and creativity into the celebration, with Ari designing many of the paper goods and personal touches by hand, from the invitations and menus to the matchbooks and signage. Every element felt intentional, personal, and uniquely theirs.

And of course, no wedding day would have been complete without Tiger and Riley. Their sweet pups were a huge part of the celebration and absolutely had their moment to shine.
What I’ll remember most, though, is the overwhelming sense of love that surrounded these two. From emotional embraces to nonstop laughter, you could feel how deeply loved Ari and Pat are by their family and friends. They are two of the kindest people, and it was evident in every interaction throughout the day. The sunshine, the coastal breeze, the waterfront views, the incredible vendor team, and the people who traveled near and far to celebrate made it all feel picture-perfect.

This was one of those wedding days that reminds me exactly why I love what I do. If I could relive it over and over again, I would.

Ari & Pat, thank you for trusting me to document such a beautiful beginning. šŸ¤

One of the most overlooked benefits of an engagement session? It has very little to do with the photos themselves.

Engagement sessions create space to slow down, connect, and become comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day. By the time your celebration arrives, you’ll already know exactly what to expect, allowing you to be fully present and enjoy every moment.

This Old Lyme engagement session with Athena & Jake was the perfect example. What began as a cloudy coastal evening transformed into the most beautiful golden light, giving us the opportunity to create images that feel effortless, refined, and true to who they are as a couple.

These relaxed beach sessions along the Connecticut shoreline will always be among my favorites: the perfect blend of natural beauty, genuine connection, and timeless imagery.

Looking forward to celebrating these two in 2026 šŸ„‚

The fleeting in-between moments, the wind in her dress, the way they looked at each other when no one else noticed, the kind of wedding storytelling I’ll never get tired of documenting. Romantic, honest, and preserved exactly as it felt.

Heading home today after the sweetest two weeks in California ā˜€ļøšŸŒŠGrateful for the slow moments, family time, and a little reset before wedding season fully kicks in. Now it’s back to the rhythm of things, venue walkthroughs with my 2027 couples, timeline consults for upcoming 2026 weddings, a newborn session and a back-to-back wedding weekend ahead. So excited for what this season holds.

The best engagement session locations are the ones that mean something to you.

When couples ask how to choose the perfect spot for their photos, I always encourage them to think beyond just a pretty backdrop. The most meaningful galleries come from locations that already hold memories: the city where you met, your favorite beach, the streets you walk together.

For this session, we explored Boston. The city where these two first met and built the beginning of their story together. Every part of the session felt personal, relaxed, and authentic to who they are.

And just as important as location? Your outfits. Choosing pieces that feel comfortable, timeless, and complement your environment makes such a difference in creating an elevated, cohesive gallery.

One of my favorite parts of working with my couples is helping guide them through all of it, from choosing the perfect New England engagement session location to styling outfits so you feel confident and fully yourselves stepping in front of the camera. The more intentional the experience feels, the more natural your photos become.

To the mothers in the thick of it, the ones soaking in sticky fingers and bedtime snuggles. To the women longing to become mothers. To the mothers carrying babies in their arms and the ones carrying them only in their hearts.

To those missing their moms deeply today, navigating grief that never quite leaves you. To those with complicated relationships, estrangement, or wounds that make today feel heavy instead of celebratory.

And to the women who mother in quiet, unseen ways every single day, this post is for you.

Motherhood is layered. Beautiful and tender, exhausting and sacred, fleeting and all-consuming at once.

As a photographer, I feel incredibly honored to freeze these seasons in time, the way your child reaches for your hand, the softness of a forehead kiss, the chaos that somehow becomes the memory you miss most later on.

Years from now, these photographs will become proof of how deeply you loved and were loved.

Today, I hope you feel seen exactly where you are. Not just for what you do, but for who you are.

Happy Mother’s Day šŸ¤

I have so many new faces here lately, so I wanted to say hi and properly introduce myself ✨

I’m Rebecca, a Connecticut wedding & portrait photographer with a love for capturing genuine connection, beautiful light, and all the in-between moments that matter most. My style is romantic, relaxed, and inspired by storytelling, coastal landscapes, and emotion-filled imagery.

Outside of photography, I’m married to my amazing husband Taylor, a mama to my sweet three-year-old son Charlie, and constantly outnumbered by our two rescue dogs and rescue cat šŸ¤

I’m a coffee addict through and through, happiest traveling somewhere new with my camera in hand, soaking up beach days, salt air, time on the water, and ending the day with a good book. I’m also a licensed speech and language pathologist, which has shaped so much of who I am, especially the way I connect with and care for people.

I photograph weddings, engagements, families, maternity, newborns, and portraits of all kinds. One of my favorite parts of this job is the relationships that come with it. My clients truly never feel like ā€œjust clientsā€ to me. I care so deeply about the people I photograph, and so many of you end up feeling like family over the years. Getting to document your biggest moments and grow alongside you is something I never take for granted ✨

I’m so happy you’re here and can’t wait to connect with you all šŸ¤
