👇𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒕𝒐𝒑 3 𝒕𝒊𝒑𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒎𝒂𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔:

Tree is lit. Gifts are wrapped. Eggnog is poured... with the right amount of bourbon. For many of us, this is the calm before the Christmas storm. Take a moment to put your feet up and take it slow for the rest of the year.

My relaxation is taking photos and for this one I owe a big shout out to the family for stepping in as my lighting crew for this "quick pic".

1️⃣𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐝: If you have warm lighting - use it. If not then layer your lighting so you create a little depth. Make sure the family is well-lit and the background has some warm but subtle lighting.

2️⃣𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐈𝐭: Candid joy is contagious. Be ready to capture the best moments, but not every moment. You have to enjoy life beyond the camera.

3️⃣𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐨𝐬: Let the moment happen and clean up later. We want to capture the real story, not the curated story.

You are using video wrong... let me explain.

WATCH THIS VIDEO and tell me what you know about this brand. Can you tell me anything besides that it's a craft coffee company?

At the end of the day our clients buy from our companies because they FEEL they can trust us. They aren't guessing at the messaging, the quality, the customer service... whatever you base your business on.

Video is super impactful to allow customers to get to know who they are investing in. They are looking for a way to FEEL the experience they will have once they hand over cash.

This ONE THING has helped me learn about working with every type of business (read below)...

When working with any business it's important to remember that they are the expert in THEIR business. No matter how many businesses in the same industry I work with, they are all different.

That's because...

Businesses ARE NOT products or services. It's not a logo or a slogan.

Businesses ARE people and that's what make each one unique. People determine the quality of service. Not to name names... but we all know those tract builders that come in and whip up 120 homes in 10 months. Within 3 years there are major issues... I've experienced them myself.

On the other hand you have awesome builders like Mack Custom Homes that cares how the home is built to ensure the home owners have the best experience living in the home. These photos were taken mid-construction while working with Jaunty J Interiors on grabbing social media content, however you can see the high quality work from these few photos - just look at that front door... and copper downspout!

The two businesses have their values and run their businesses based on those values.

Perhaps increase share holder stocks vs. exceeding expectations of the home owner.

So the ONE THING that I've learned about working with every type of business is to ask questions so I can learn how to serve my clients so I can meet their needs the best I can.

As a photographer, I'm not just a shutter bug, I see myself as a story teller. This is through capturing personalities in headshots (even corporate headshots), capturing the essence of your business through produc photography, and showing the value that you bring to your clients.
