Want better beach photos of your kids? Here’s what actually works (from someone who’s photographed a lot of sandy, salty little humans):
1. Let them play first.
Yep, really. Let them run, dig, splash, and get comfortable. Kids light up when they’re free to explore—and that joy is what makes beautiful photos.
2. Don’t stress the outfits.
Pick clothes you like beforehand, then try not to fuss about them during the session. A little sand and movement makes the whole thing feel more real (and honestly, way cuter).
3. Talk it up!
Tell your kids they’re meeting someone fun who’s coming to hang out and play—not “stand still and smile for pictures.” That shift changes everything.
4. Trust the process.
I’ll gently guide when we need those “look at the camera” shots, but most of what I’m capturing? The real moments in between. The hand-holding, the belly laughs, the way your toddler throws sand like confetti.
5. Let me earn their trust.
I show up ready to get low, act silly, and connect with your kids on their level. Once they feel safe and seen, that’s when the magic happens.
Happy kids = beautiful, natural photos. Every time.
I’m a Gulf Shores local and family beach photographer who believes your session should feel like vacation—not a pause in it.
