Official opening weekend of Sleeping Giant State Park after a tornado ravaged the area in May of 2018. The crews did an amazing job clearing out the trails and filling in the voids caused by the uprooted trees.

Took advantage of the gorgeous setting sun to bum up and down the Valley Line and grab some photos of the Santa Specials and North Pole Express trains. Well, that was the plan anyways. Once on site, without fail, Murphy decided to show up and produce clouds that teased with the sunlight. Grrr... So instead of trains, got great highlighting the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam. With the sun quickly setting, and still wanting to catch trains, I relocated to Deep River to grab these tripy shots. When life gives you lemons I suppose...

Chilly night chasing steam on the Valley Railroad. Got to see #'s 3025, 40, and 97 in action carrying riders to the North Pole on the North Pole Express trains. #97 would develop some bearing issues after a couple of runs, and would be put away for the night. A great night to be hanging with the gang, Vinny Cousin, Mark Spremulli, Peter, and Thomas Nanos
