It's funny the things we hang on to in order to remember a loved one.

This was one of the very first photos that I sold when I was starting up my photography business, and I sold it to my grandmother. Of course, I would have gladly given her the photo for free, but she insisted on buying it since I was starting out the business. She had it matted and framed and when she and my granddad had moved to an apartment, it was the first thing hung in the house. When my granddad passed and she moved to assisted living, this was the first thing hung at her residence.
When my grandmother passed, I came back into possession of this beautiful photo and it now hangs in my new house where I can see it every day.

Yesterday, I met a beautiful young woman who had seen this photo and said it was the exact spot she remembered being with her grandmother during a picnic and she wanted to buy the photo. Her husband is deployed, so I gave them the Military discount and she has been so happy to let me know she has received the photo and has also had it matted and framed and could not be more happy after her grandmother passed this past month of cancer.

Though it's a bitter sweet post, it made my entire day to know that such a wonderful young woman was able to relive her memories with an important person in her life, just as I have many times when I see the photo on my wall.

In honor of the United States Army's 248th birthday, any person who is or has served our country can have any size print for 24.8% off this week!

I am proud to be serving my 8th year in the US Army and have made my way up to SSG as an 88M. I've been blessed with the opportunities I've had and the people I've met along the way.
