This is from a model call, where I'm still learning to pose and photograph your precious babies. And honestly? Some of the angles are just weird. But that's okay — we learn through practice, and I did get it right... eventually.

I didn't start Vaughters Photography because I wanted to take pretty pictures — though let's be honest, that's a big part of it. I started because I wanted to document my children's and my family's lives.
I always loved looking back at photos from my own childhood and adolescence, and one day my boys will too. I hope they look back at all the posed family photos and the silly candids and remember the love and fun we shared.
And not every photo has to be perfect or professional. Sometimes my son has an idea and we just run with it, even when I only have my cell phone camera on hand. A core memory gets made — we both look at that photo and we're right back in the moment.

It's after 9 PM, and I'm walking into my house with sandy toes and dewy skin, still thinking about that sunset while getting my boys ready for bed.

People always ask why we start sessions so early or so late. The answer is simple: the best light. And maybe a little hope that the sky decides to put on a show.

What you don't always see is everything that happens before I ever click the shutter. I'm checking tide charts, watching sunset times, charging batteries, clearing memory cards, packing gear, and making sure my camera is ready to go.
It's a lot of planning for a session that flies by—but every single time, it's worth it.

We're incredibly lucky to call this place home, and I never take for granted that I get to capture your family's memories against some of the most beautiful backdrops around. ❤️

Happy 15th Anniversary to my favorite person.
Brian has supported me and Vaughters Photography every single day without hesitation — and for that (and approximately 5,475 other reasons) I am so incredibly grateful. Here's to the man who has put up with my antics for 15 years and somehow signed up for a lifetime more. 😂🤍

This little guy completely stole my heart — twice. 🤍
I had the sweetest honor of photographing this baby boy when he was brand new to the world, and then again at 12 weeks for this posed newborn session. And honestly? He proved something I love reminding my clients: you don't have to have a brand new baby to get those beautiful newborn photos.
You just need a sleepy baby and a full tummy. 😴🍼

A little PSA for families with young children and toddlers 👉

Please don't stress about whether your little one will cooperate during your session — I've got you.

If they're shy, we slow down and let them warm up on their own terms. If they're bouncing off the walls, we lean into it — because the giggles, the chaos, and the in-between moments are exactly what makes your photos feel like YOUR family. Some of my favorite shots have come from a toddler who refused to sit still.

And yes, I do suggest you come prepared with mini marshmallows. 😂 They're clean, they're a crowd-pleaser, and a little bribery goes a very long way when you need someone tiny to look at the camera.

You don't need perfect kids for a perfect session — you just need to show up. I'll handle the rest. ♥️

This session at Morris Island Lighthouse absolutely took my breath away. 🤍

This glowing mama chose the most stunning backdrop for her maternity session — the soft sunset sky, the driftwood, and that iconic lighthouse in the distance made for a combination that felt almost too perfect to be real. Spoiler: it was very real, and I'm still pinching myself.

If you're expecting and on the fence about booking a maternity session — please do it. This season of life is so fleeting, and you deserve to have gorgeous images that capture exactly how beautiful and powerful you are right now. Your baby will grow up knowing just how loved they were before they even arrived.
