If I’m being honest… this session brought tears to my eyes.

Not because anything crazy happened — but because I know exactly what it will mean to have photos like this someday.

My boys will grow up without their grandma, and her loss has had such an impact on how I photograph families. So when this mom asked if the grandparents could jump in for a few photos, my answer was immediately yes.

Because one day, these won’t just feel like photos with grandma and grandpa. They’ll feel like pieces of their childhood.

The way grandpa held him up.
The way grandma looked at him.
The little in-between moments that don’t feel big at the time, but end up meaning everything.

So if you’re ever wondering if grandparents should be included in your session, this is me telling you to do it. Always.
