What an extraordinary honor to see Andy's and my name illuminated on the National Military Monument on the National Mall.

As America’s 250th anniversary celebration continues, this powerful new tribute honors the more than 41 million Americans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Through its interactive technology, visitors and families across the country can search for loved ones who served and submit missing service records for future recognition.

For nearly 10 years, America's VetDogs Charlie has been more than my service dog — he’s been a bright light to countless people, too. Together, we traveled to 46 states for the Veterans Portrait Project and veteran advocacy events, spoke with thousands of Americans about veterans’ issues and the life-changing impact of service dogs, and cohosted After Action on PBS, where millions welcomed our conversations into their homes.

He’s carried me through illness, healing, ups, downs, and countless miles on the road. Along the way, he brought comfort, smiles, and connection to people everywhere we went. This collage represents just a small glimpse of the incredible journey we’ve shared together.

Now, after a lifetime of service, Charlie, who is my champion, my heart, and my very best friend, has his paws kicked up on the sofa, relaxing. This Thursday, June 25th is Charlie's 10th birthday. Please consider a donation to America's VetDogs in his honor. ❤️🐾
