We think it’s time to open the book…

Christmas 2026 is coming to The Work of Wanderers. ✨

And this year, we didn’t want to just create Christmas sets. We wanted to create the kind of Christmas you remember.

Christmas morning when you were eight. Colored lights glowing in a dark room. The movie you watched every single year. Toys scattered across the living room floor. Grandma’s cookies. Staying awake because you were absolutely certain you heard something on the roof.

The years when Christmas felt impossibly big…and wonderfully magical.

That’s where we started.

And somehow, it turned into SIX completely different little Christmas stories.

Six stories. Six worlds. One Christmas collection.

We aren’t showing you everything just yet. Over the next few days, we’re going to open the book one page at a time…and we seriously cannot wait for you to see what we’ve been working on.

But first…I want to hear yours.

I have started to write something about this a dozen times….

There is so much conversation right now about AI and children and photos and what we should or should not be sharing.

And I have struggled with what I wanted to say about it.

Because before I was ever a photographer….I was just a mom with a camera.

A mom who was completely obsessed with her kids.

Every single stage.

The tiny hands. The missing teeth. The messy hair. The way their little faces changed almost overnight. The things they loved for three weeks and then never thought about again.

All of it.

I wanted to remember ALL of it.

My children are the most beautiful and important things I will ever have a hand in creating.

They were my first art.

And really….they are the reason any of this ever started.

Somewhere along the way that love for documenting them turned into this beautiful career. And for more than 20 years other families have trusted me to do the same thing for them.

To notice it.

To capture it.

To help them remember.

So all of the conversations happening right now about AI and what can happen to an innocent photo of a child have been sitting really heavy with me.

Because it IS scary.

There are things people can do with an innocent photograph now that I wish did not exist. Things that make me sick to even think about.

And I keep coming back to this….

People who hurt and exploit children did not begin with AI. There have always been frightening things in this world that parents have had to understand and protect their children from.

But the ways those people can cause harm are evolving.

And that means the way we protect children has to evolve too.

AI has created possibilities that most of us could not have imagined when we first started putting photographs online. I do not think the answer is to pretend that risk is not real. It is.

I think we learn... We pay attention... We talk about it. We make more intentional choices. We demand better safeguards. And we need laws that can keep up with technology instead of always chasing behind it.

Protecting children has never meant being able to remove every danger from the world.

To me….it means continuing to learn what the dangers are and changing how we protect them when the world changes.

And I think we are in one of those moments now.

But I have also had to figure out what that means for me….

And I do not want something ugly to take away something that has always been so beautiful to me.

For my own family….I will keep taking the pictures.

I will probably always take too many. 😂

And I will still share pieces of our lives that feel beautiful and important to me.

That is where I land for MY family.

And even within my own family….I do not always get to make that choice.

I am a Mimi now. I may be the one behind the camera and I may adore those little people more than I could ever put into words….but I am not the parent.

That decision belongs to their parents

If theirr boundary is different from mine, then their boundary wins.

I think that has actually helped me understand this conversation in a much simpler way….

I can have my own feelings about photographs and sharing them without believing everyone I love has to feel exactly the same way.

And that is the part that matters so much to me with my clients too….

My line does not have to be your line.

Taking photos of our children….sharing them with the people we love….and putting them somewhere publicly are all different choices.

And I think good, loving, fiercely protective parents can make completely different decisions about all three.

Maybe you do not want your children online at all.

Maybe you are okay with some things and not others.

Maybe you still love sharing your family just like you always have.

I respect all of those choices.

And if you trust me to photograph your children….I want you to know that I will respect YOUR choice.

If you do not want me to share them….tell me.

If you used to be okay with it and you are not anymore….tell me.

If there are certain images you want to keep just for you….tell me.

You never have to worry about hurting my feelings or hurting my business by saying no.

And if you are comfortable with me sharing the beautiful things we create together….I am incredibly grateful for that trust.

I have thought so much about where the line is in all of this.

And maybe there is not one line.

Maybe we each get to draw our own.

I know where mine starts….

I believe in protecting children fiercely.

I believe the responsibility for doing something horrible with an innocent photograph belongs to the person who chose to do something horrible with it.

And I still believe in the beauty and importance of documenting childhood.

Those things do not feel like opposites to me.

Because this was never just about having something beautiful to post.

Long before this was a business….long before anyone was following my work….long before I knew this would become such a huge part of my life….

I was just a mom trying desperately to hold onto something that was going by way too fast.

And honestly….I think a part of me still is.

Before photography was ever my work….

it was my love language.

It still is.

I cannot believe this sweet girl is a senior. She has an amazing future ahead of her.
