Last month, I photographed my first wedding!! I hysterically cried up front during the ceremony because of just how beautifully, genuinely, and wholesomely in adoration of each other Zak and Maya are. This wedding was at a summer camp in Indiana and we all stayed in bunk beds with strangers that became friends. More photos to come. đź’•

An absolutely glorious jet lagged homecoming after 3.5 weeks in Europe entailed a drive up to the park with Bob. There is truly nothing better than sitting in the passenger seat as we slowly sift through Skyline drive with binocular vision trying to spot cool native flowers, raccoons, owls, spotted fawn, bucks and foxes. The amount of times I hear “aaaawe look at that beautiful doe” or “here behind this bush is where I saw (insert forest animal)” makes me so happy.

The abrupt pull offs to hop out of the car and shoot together are always so memorable. Last year Bob told me all about the unique Turk’s Cap Lily that grows up here, and the other day we found a huge patch of them. After we had our roadside golden hour moment with 4 spotted fawns, Bob took one for the team to move the car to a legal spot and told me to “go have an adventure”. Within 5 minutes, I was sitting in the meadow as the four fawns half sneakily half playfully slowly creeped up to me not breaking eye contact for a second. I could hear their baby bleats left and right. It was so adorable to witness them get spooked with my minor movements and jet 20 yards back, only for them to return close by within seconds. Core memory unlocked.

Over spring break, I was in St Augustine Florida to celebrate the life of my grandpa with my family. When my wildlife photography buddy, Bob, found out where we were going to be, he demanded that we check out the Alligator Farm. It’s a zoo for a large variety of alligators, but the reason he recommended going is because it’s an incredible habitat for native birds due to the fact that the alligators keep their predators away.

I have NEVER seen so many birds in one place in my life. Picture 65 in one line of sight. Staggered in trees, flying right past your shoulder to find a new landing spot. Let alone roseate spoonbills, great egrets, green herons and their babies. Along a boardwalk section over the water, I counted about 16 nests in one tree. What comes with great egret nests are the most adorable green skinned ginormous beaked spiked haired baby dinosaurs I ever did see. Absolute awe. Minus the part where they viciously bullied their siblings. We ended up going again another morning before we flew home. Forever thankful for recommendations from friends!
