J Slaughter Photography

J Slaughter Photography The Photography of Jerry Slaughter A way to share my images with a larger audience. I consider myself a serious hobbyist and not a professional.

These images are a cross-section of my work and display the variety of subjects I shoot. I do not use my photography as a way to provide for myself, rather as a creative outlet. Although I do not make my living with photography, I do not give my work away either. If you are interested in any of my images or in collaborating with me to make some of your very own, we can come to a mutual agreement o

n the value of those images. It's not always about money and I am always looking for new faces and places to work with. It also needs to be said that these images are my exclusive property and you may not use any of them without my expressed permission. If I find my images being used without permission I will use all means available to assure that proper compensation is secured.

I have been contacted by a few folks recently to provide quotes for photography services. Unfortunately my current situation does not afford me the time to do any serious photography work. I may be more available this fall if things work out like we hope. My sincerest apologies.

I had high hopes for a better variety of colors this fall. A few years ago I did a shoot from this same spot that had the best colors ever. My return this year didn't have quite the same impact but I managed to get a little out of it. I punched the colors and tone up a bit with one of my old favorites, Photomatix Pro.

I photographed an event today at the Space and Rocket Center and Dave Gallagher (Microwave Dave) was playing there. I really enjoy listening to him and wish I had time to sit back and chill while does his thing.

I used a preset called "Urban Legend" to process this. I thought it was fitting.

This morning I needed to do a little refresher training. I am supposed to take Santa pictures today at our company Christmas party and I ran into a slight snag with my gear, it seams that my radio triggers have decided to retire themselves without warning. Plan B: I have to step back (technology wise) a bit and use the IR capabilities of my Canon flash to control the remote flash. What better way to practice than to shoot my breakfast in a dark room, lit with 2 speedlight flashes. A little LightRoom magic thrown in for good measure as well for that "artistic" touch.

Who can tell me about this flower or w**d? I have see them bloom every year at this time in the same spot under a group of trees in an empty lot near my office. Every year I see them I say I want to stop and photograph them and I finally did. I do not recall seeing these anywhere else and they have always piqued my interest. They only last for a week or 2 as fall sets in.

Just playing around, a little over-cooked grunge for effect. It just caught my eye this evening.
