I aim to capture your heartfelt memories and immortalize them in photographic art to help you relive the tears and joys of your big day. My goal is make sure you have fun and laugh your worries away. My love for photography has helped me fulfill several items on my bucket list from the shores of Jamaica to the cliffs of Maui. If you have one, let me help you make those memories and go on an adventure together!

Not every destination session comes with blue skies—and that’s part of the adventure.

The afternoon we met up with Ella and Patrick, we took to Malahide Castle and Howth Cliff before their wedding. By the time we reached Howth Cliff, the Irish fog had completely settled in. The sweeping coastal views were hidden, but the mist created a quiet, intimate backdrop that let their connection take center stage.

One of my favorite things about photographing destination weddings is embracing whatever a place gives you. Sometimes it’s a golden sunset. Sometimes it’s fog rolling in off the Irish Sea. Either way, the story is always worth telling.

These are a few favorites from their wedding weekend in Ireland. 🤍

Friday Introduction ✨

Hi, I’m Michelle—the face behind Michelle Zapanta Photography, a Chicago luxury wedding photographer with a heart for documenting love stories wherever they take me. Whether it’s an elegant celebration in Chicago or an intimate mountain elopement across the world, being a destination wedding photographer has allowed me to combine two of my greatest passions: traveling and preserving life’s most meaningful moments.

Here’s something that might surprise you…

The woman behind the camera still has insecurities.

When clients tell me, “I’m awkward in front of the camera” or “We don’t know how to pose.” I smile because I genuinely know how they feel. But I also confidently tell them, “Don’t worry—that’s my job.” I know exactly how to pose you, guide you naturally, and find the light and angles that help you see yourself the way the people who love you already do.

Ironically, I’m not always as kind to myself.

I can pick apart every little thing in my own photos, whether it’s the shape of my face, my curves, my acne-prone skin, my smile…really anything! I notice all these before the joy, the scenery, or the memories. It’s funny how we can so easily see beauty in everyone else while struggling to recognize it in ourselves.

These photos reminded me that we truly are our own worst critics.

My husband tells me I’m beautiful. My son tells me I’m pretty almost every single day. They see something in me that I sometimes forget to see myself. Maybe it’s time I start believing them.

So this is my little reminder—not just for me, but for anyone reading this:

You don’t have to be perfect to deserve beautiful photographs.

You are worthy of being seen, celebrated, and remembered exactly as you are. ❤️

Thank you for following along, trusting me with your biggest milestones, and allowing me to do what I love most—traveling the world, meeting incredible people, and creating timeless images that will be treasured for generations.

I’d love to get to know you too! Tell me in the comments:

A few favorites from Matt & Eve’s engagement session at Villa Terrace. 🤍

Between the gardens, the architecture, and that soft evening light, this was the perfect setting for documenting this season of their lives.

I love engagement sessions because they’re a chance to slow down, get comfortable in front of the camera, and create photos that actually feel like you. Can’t wait for their wedding day!

Some love stories deserve a castle backdrop. Today, theirs becomes a marriage. So grateful to be here in Ireland documenting the start of their next chapter. ☘️🤍

A rainy Chicago morning somehow turned into the perfect backdrop.

We wandered around the Wrigley Building, found a few quiet corners, and let the city do its thing in the background. These two made my job easy. Dressed to the nines, with the timeless Chicago architecture setting the scene. Some places never go out of style—and neither does being completely in love.

The kind of joy you can feel through every photo. ✨
Andres & Hannah were all smiles from the second she said yes at the Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk — completely wrapped up in each other with the Chicago skyline behind them.

Andres enlisted Hannah’s best friends and family to help plan this surprise proposal. They had both of their families in the vicinity to witness this. What’s even more exciting is that he planned a get together with their closest families and friends at a nearby bar. And boy that was one happy crowd!

It was wet and cold but no rain will stop this celebration of love! ❤️

Somewhere between the marble halls and timeless paintings, Esther & Urchit made the Art Institute of Chicago feel entirely their own. Black on black, surrounded by centuries of art, and still somehow the most striking thing in every room. 🖤

Their session felt quiet, intentional, and cinematic — like wandering through a gallery where every frame told part of their story. From the grand staircases to the soft museum light, every corner felt timeless.
