Engagement shoots… yay or nay? My answer, as always, is that’s totally up to you! I personally love them and there are a few reasons why. This week’s blog goes into those reasons. Spoiler… the end talks about a complimentary session with my Full Day Wedding Plus package 😉. Check out the blog on my website!

In the meantime, please take a look at Darby and Anthony’s engagement shoot. They look stunning and did amazing. It was so good meeting them in-person and getting to know them before shooting their big day in June.

When you want your day to be as low-key as possible. Malika and Sean from the beginning just wanted to elope on the beach and gather in celebration. I think this was the most chill wedding I’ve had the honor of capturing.

Shooting this wedding was all about capturing what naturally happened in a more documentary style. If this is what you want, let’s chat! I want to hear your vision for your day.

Shoutout to my second shooter for helping me document some of this magic!

Should you have your photographer take a photo of your wedding dress? I saw a recent discussion on social media questioning this. As wedding photography continues, trends and norms come and go. But here’s the thing… it’s your day. Do what you want! The important thing is to communicate what you do or don’t want in terms of your wedding day photos.

I’ll close off with this though, the best dress shots are the ones of you wearing it 🤍.

Do you ever feel guilty when you’re resting? Or heck, not even resting… just when you’re not working. If starting to feel tired or not too well, I make a decision not to work. But the moment I start to feel an inkling of energy or just a fraction of feeling better, I think, “I should do ____.” I have to remind myself to rest and that it is OKAY to rest.

My brain tends to run a million miles a minute and can typically keep up. However, I made the decision to intentionally rest this year. Not neglect my duties, but be more mindful of taking care of myself. I’m a work in progress 😅.

Those who are good at resting… any tips? Please help a girl out!

If you have never taken or rarely take photos, it can be awkward. The thing is… it doesn’t have to be! Here are some simple tips to feeling more natural during your portraits.

Prepare and Embrace. Mentally prepare for your photoshoot especially if you’re on the introverted side (like me 🙋🏽‍♀️). Embrace the awkward and have fun with it. If you have fun during your shoot, we’ll see that in your photos.

Quality Time. Treat this time as quality time together. For couples on a shoot, consider this a date. For couples on their wedding day, consider it a moment to breathe with one another (while capturing some awesome photos). The more you interact with one another, the less you notice me and my camera.

Movement is Key. Create natural movement to get those natural shots. Referring back to my point above, this is time together. You spend that time laughing, talking, kissing, hugging, and all the movements that make others go “awww”.

I hope that helps, but I’m here to help even more if you have questions. I guide all couples through their shoot so don’t think it’s just on you to feel natural. I’ll be there to make it happen as well.

P.S. This week’s blog is up and talks about this a teensy bit more! Click the link and hit blog to check it out.

I promise I won’t lay around during your shoot/wedding and I do haul butt for photos, but this sound was too cute not to use. Ultimately, I want to say this embodies me because I’m not a “zoom arounder” 😆. Back in 2019 to 2020 when I was developing my business, I wanted to go into high adventure and lots of action. I was taking shots of everything and anything. While I still love a good adventure, my days and vision for photography look a little different now that 6.5 years have passed. I’ve learned that with photography and shooting, I need to slow down more and be intentional with what I’m shooting. I want to capture things as naturally as possible and work around the couple, their vision, and their story.

This is just one aspect of my photography goals for 2026. If you’d like to read more please check it out! Link in bio… head to blog 😉.
