Most photographers design clusters by guessing. The template does the math so you don't crop twice.

Every Canvas Cluster at Simply Color Lab comes with a downloadable Photoshop sizing template. Thirteen layouts, numbered C1 through C13. Wall space ranges from 20 by 20 inches to 76 by 30 inches. Each layout file shows exact crop dimensions and wrap allowances for the depth you choose.

Traditional clusters use 1.5 inch depth. The 3D clusters come in 0.75, 1.5, or 2 inch. Deeper stretchers need more wrap allowance. A 0.75 inch stretcher needs 1.5 inches per side. A 1.5 inch stretcher needs 2 inches per side. A 2 inch stretcher needs 2.5 inches per side. The template accounts for all of it. You crop once, export, and order.

Three border options: natural wrap, solid color, or digital stretch. Custom word wraps available if you want text integrated into the design. Available in Canvas Gloss or Canvas Satin. Metallic Canvas is not available in clusters.

Canvas is hand-stretched on hardwood frames we build in house at our Henderson, Nevada facility. Printed on the Epson SureColor S80600 with UltraChrome GS3 resin inks. Giclee process, rated 100-plus years under standard display conditions. Production is three business days.

Canvas Clusters are built the same way as our Gallery Wraps. Same giclee process on the Epson SureColor S80600 with UltraChrome GS3 resin inks. Same 100-plus year archival rating under standard display conditions. Same hand-stretched technique on solid hardwood stretcher bars we mill ourselves in Henderson.

The difference is the layout. Thirteen cluster designs, from a 20 by 20 inch grouping to a 76 by 30 inch statement wall. Each piece is individually stretched, inspected, and shipped together with a Photoshop sizing template so the files line up exactly as designed.

She held the print up to the window light. The highlights practically glowed. That's when she asked for three more.

A family portrait in afternoon sun. On paper, it was beautiful. On metal, the luminosity made it feel alive. The photographer delivered both options at the reveal. The client kept coming back to the metal print.

That's what ChromaLuxe aluminum and dye sublimation deliver. The color is infused into the panel coating under heat and pressure. The aluminum backing reflects light back through the image. When you have strong highlights and vibrant color to begin with, metal amplifies what's already there.

Metal prints glow. Fine art paper holds shadow detail. Choose the right surface for the image you made.

Dye-sublimation on ChromaLuxe panels infuses ink into the coating layer. That process creates luminosity and saturation that no paper can match. High-key portraits, bright landscapes, anything with vibrant color: metal makes them shine.

But metal trades shadow nuance for that glow. Low-key work with critical detail in the blacks often belongs on fine art paper, where pigment inks on matte surfaces preserve every subtle gradient. The dye-sublimation process that gives metal its signature glow compresses shadow detail. It is a predictable trade-off, not a defect.

Match the finish to the image. White Gloss maximizes luminosity for vibrant work. Matte White softens reflections when the wall has strong ambient light. Clear finishes let the aluminum show through, perfect for high-contrast black and white compositions where the metal itself becomes part of the image.

That's dye sublimation. Heat and pressure infuse the image into the polymer coating on ChromaLuxe aluminum panels. The Epson F6470 we run for metal is configured with Light Cyan and Light Magenta for smoother tonal range in skies and skin. UltraChrome DS inks, six colors, one substrate.

We run three printers here in Henderson. One for fine art paper. One for canvas. One for metal. Most labs consolidate. We didn't. The right machine for each surface means no product line compromises for another.

Metal excels at luminosity and saturation. High-key portraits. Vibrant landscapes. Images where color intensity carries the story. It can lose subtle shadow detail, so for low-key work where critical shadow gradation matters, fine art paper often serves the image better. We're honest about fit.

Five finishes. White Gloss, Clear Gloss, Matte White, Matte Clear, and White Gloss EXT for outdoor installations rated 5+ years direct sunlight per ChromaLuxe EXT specifications. Clear finishes let the aluminum show through transparent areas. High-contrast black and white and metallic-effect compositions.

Before we print, we read the file. Not the histogram. The image itself. That's how we know which paper to load.

Every Fine Art Paper print runs through the Epson SureColor P20570 with UltraChrome PRO12 pigment inks. Twelve colors. Extended gamut with Violet. But the machine is only half the equation.

The other half happens at the bench.

We pull the file. We look at the tonal range, the detail in the shadows, the surface the image is asking for. A high-contrast architectural shot might want Baryta with its bright white high-gloss finish. A portrait with soft skin tones might ask for Photo Rag, 308 GSM, 100 percent cotton. A landscape with fine grain texture could live on German Etching, 310 GSM mould-made.

We match the paper to the image. Not the other way around.

That decision doesn't show up in the order form. But it shows up in the print. Texture and surface render fine detail and tonal subtlety differently than a high-gloss face-mounted surface. Some images need that. Some images are built for it.

Not every print belongs behind glass. Some images need texture you can see from across the room.

When a client asks about fine art paper, they're asking if the image can hold its own without a reflective surface doing the work. Here's the honest read: if the photograph has strong detail in the shadows, if the composition relies on subtle tonal shifts, if the subject matter feels tactile or organic, paper wins.

We print Fine Art Paper on the Epson SureColor P20570 with 12-color UltraChrome PRO12 pigment inks. The extra Violet channel extends the gamut into the deep purples and blues where most printers fall off. Hahnemuhle German Etching is mould-made at 310 GSM. Photo Rag is 100 percent cotton at 308 GSM. Luster is 300 GSM with an E Surface. The surface you choose changes how the ink sits and how the eye reads the image.

Matte cotton and mould-made papers render fine detail and tonal subtlety differently than a high-gloss face-mounted surface. You lose the reflective pop. You gain depth. The image breathes. The texture becomes part of the read.

Present it to your client this way: fine art paper for portraits where skin tone matters, for landscapes with organic texture, for black-and-white work where grain and shadow detail carry the composition. Metal or acrylic when the image needs to project across a large room or when the install site has strong ambient light that would create hotspots on glass.

Most people think paper can't compete with metal or acrylic. They're wrong. Here's when paper is the better call.

Texture matters. A matte cotton surface like Photo Rag 308 GSM renders fine detail and tonal subtlety differently than a high-gloss face-mounted surface. If the image has soft shadows, fabric, skin, or organic texture, a matte paper preserves that. Metal amplifies contrast and saturation. Acrylic delivers depth and color pop. But neither handles midtones and texture the way a mould-made or cotton paper does.

Viewing conditions also guide the decision. Paper doesn't throw glare under gallery lighting. Metal and acrylic both reflect. If the image hangs opposite a window or under track lights, paper gives the viewer a clearer read.

We print Fine Art Paper Prints on the Epson SureColor P20570 with UltraChrome PRO12 pigment inks. That's a 12-color set with Violet for extended gamut. We round the corners by hand on every Heritage Wood print because a 90-degree edge doesn't belong on fine art paper mounted to wood.

After your file prints on Fine Art Linen, Smooth Matte, Photo Rag, or Fine Art Luster, we mount it to a 3/4 inch white birch panel. Then we sand. The corners get rounded. The front edges get beveled if you ordered Heirloom, or left straight if you chose Legacy. Then we UV laminate the surface and attach the keyhole hanger.

Every step happens at the bench in Henderson. Not on a production line. Not outsourced. We built the tooling to do this in-house because the finish matters as much as the print. Frames are built in-house. Acrylic is face-mounted on premises. Canvas is hand-stretched on hardwood frames we make ourselves. Heritage Wood is hand-sanded with rounded corners.

This is what it looks like when a print lab operates as a craft shop. You send the file. We handle it from the printer to the shipping box.
