Whalehead Beach, Oregon

I need to find a better understanding of taking photographs of the Oregon Coast because when I was there, it looked more amazing than the photographs. I had so many stops that I took photographs that I didn't love but liked. The one that I did enjoy was Whalehead Beach and was a very nice stop to take a photo. In this photograph, I was playing with the long exposure and it was fun fighting not getting my pants and shoes wet from the waves so I didn't have to enjoy

South Falls - Silver Falls State Park
----
Silver Falls State Park was such a great place to visit just outside Portland, Oregon metro. With a bunch of waterfalls, there are many possible places to photograph. The only thing that is quite funny, is most of the waterfalls are just boring names, this is South Falls... and the next waterfall downstream is Lower South Falls... or on the path back Lower North Falls, then North Falls, and surprise... Upper North Falls. The fun part here is there are a lot of falls and the trail goes underneath a few of these waterfalls.

Avenue of the Giants - Humboldt Redwoods State Park - CA

On my trip, I drove in late and spent my first night in my truck in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park not knowing what I would see that day. After waking up and getting my bearings, I spent the morning driving the Avenue of the Giants, just enjoying the drive. All the redwood trees are amazing to see of a desert dweller... but photographing a forest is always hard until you add the manmade elements.

Multnomah Falls Oregon
Here you go, the iconic waterfall photo that every photographer takes when in the Portland Oregon area. This is Multnomah Falls and is always something to go see. To anyone that does want to see it, go early. Went at 7 am and maybe saw 10 people and 1 other photographer type, the rest were tourist taking photographs of themselves in front of it.

Windy Point Viewpoint Oregon Coast
The Oregon Coast has some amazing views and hikes to walk. I was only just driving through and stopping at a few viewpoints, but maybe one day I will have a full week vacation.

Fern Canyon - Prairie Redwoods State Park California
The biggest surprise on my recent trip was going to the Fern Canyon in the Prairie Redwoods State Park in Northern California. I had only seen it on a map as Fern Canyon with no idea how it looked, and what would you know, it was a canyon full of ferns.

Clearwater Falls Oregon
The wood-clogged Clearwater Falls is an easy viewpoint to get from the parking lot to the waterfall. The beauty and the ease to get to these waterfalls on Oregon Highway 138 are some of the best places to visit.

Heceta Head Lighthouse Oregon
On the third day heading up the Oregon 101 coast drive, I got to photograph Heceta Head Lighthouse overlook. I will say this was pretty much the only stop that day because of the beautiful scattered clouds in the morning. Later on that day, it became bad... like I can photograph in the cold winds and I can photograph in the rain... but when you have cold windy rain, it is never easy to photograph.

It has been a good year since getting out to photograph and now after a long family trip bookended with camping to do some travel/landscape photography... I got back to my base to edit and share some photographs. Here is the first of a series... This is Whitehorse Falls in Southern Oregon in the Umpqua National Forest. Now I need to finish cleaning camping gear, but more to come soon.

2020 was a year I was going to tackle some things I have looking forward to, then 2020 went to knock out those plans. This was taken at the 4 game Major League Rugby in Las Vegas, February 2020. This is the first game that weekend with Utah Warriors (in the black) vs New England Free Jacks (in Red, White and Blue). More Rugby photos to come... I shot 4 matches.

With spare time and with many older photographs to edit and update... I thought I would share the first photo of many to come. This tree snake is pretty cool looking; the texture, curling on top of a branch and the bright green... good thing I have some space between me and him.
