It’s official — the 250 Faces of Service & Sacrifice Book Launch, Signing & Veteran Gallery Showcase is set.

On Wednesday, September 30, come meet many of the veterans featured in the 250 Faces project, hear some of the stories behind their portraits, and take time to thank them for their service and sacrifice.

The evening will also feature a gallery showcasing nearly 300 veteran images from the project, along with the completed 250 Faces of Service & Sacrifice book.

This project has always been about preserving the stories of the men and women who served. I’m looking forward to having many of them together in one place and sharing their portraits and stories with the community.

Most people know me as a portrait photographer — families, seniors, executives, and everything in between.

But there’s another side of my photography that I don’t always get a chance to share.

So I guess you could call Peach Days the beginning of the second phase of my photography career… although after 35 years behind a camera, I’m not sure I’m quite ready to start counting over at Year One. 😂

I’m set up this weekend at Peach Days in Hurricane, Utah, surrounded by some great artists, craftspeople and vendors — and I’ve brought a pretty good collection of my fine-art work with me.

Landscapes, black-and-white pieces, patriotic images, some of my vintage-window pieces, and several photographs from places and experiences that have meant something to me over the years.

If you’re already coming to Peach Days, please stop in and say hello. And if you’re looking for something to do over the holiday weekend, Hurricane makes a pretty good Saturday road trip!

Today I want to wish Mr. Henry Jackson a very happy 101st birthday.

Mr. Jackson was among the first Black Marines to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. He trained at Montford Point and later served during World War II in the Battle of Saipan.

It was a true honor to photograph Mr. Jackson for the 250 Faces of Service & Sacrifice project and help preserve a small part of his remarkable story.

Happy 101st birthday, sir. Thank you for your courage, your sacrifice, and the history you helped make.

After months of photographing, interviewing, writing, editing, designing and more late nights than I can count, I finally have the first physical copy of 250 Faces of Service & Sacrifice in my hands.

Seeing it on a screen is one thing. Holding all 320 pages and 287 stories in my hands is something completely different.

Every page represents a veteran, a family, a memory and a piece of our history that deserves to be remembered. I’m incredibly grateful to every veteran who trusted me with their story and to everyone who has encouraged, supported and believed in this project along the way.

We’re getting very close.

Today is World Photography Day.

August 19 was chosen because on this day in 1839, the French government introduced the daguerreotype photographic process to the world. It was an important moment that helped begin photography as we know it today.

After more than 35 years, my camera is still much more than equipment. It has taught me to slow down, study the light, and notice what others may pass by.

Through my lens, I see stories in both people and places. I see character in a face, history in a veteran’s hands, connection within a family, and confidence coming forward in a portrait.

I also see the way light moves across the desert, clouds building over the mountains, the changing colors of fall, and the small details that can turn an ordinary landscape into something worth remembering. A scenic photograph isn’t simply a picture of a beautiful place. It’s my way of sharing how that place felt when I stood there—the light, the quiet, the scale, and that one moment that may never look the same again.

Photography allows me to preserve moments that time would otherwise take from us. The camera doesn’t create those moments—it gives me a way to hold onto them and share how I see the world.

What’s hiding in those boxes of old family photographs?

I’ve been professionally copying and restoring photographs for more than 30 years. Today’s technology allows us to recover and repair images in ways that weren’t possible years ago, but the goal is still the same:

Restore the photograph as faithfully as possible to the original.

Your original photograph stays with me here in my Henderson studio during the process and is returned to you when the work is complete.

These aren’t just old pictures. They are your parents, grandparents, weddings, military portraits, family businesses, childhood memories, and pieces of your family’s history.

The photograph may be damaged. The memory doesn’t have to be.

A professional headshot doesn’t always need to be just one close-up image.

I recently photographed a new attorney for MGS Law Group. They wanted several different looks, including a traditional headshot, mid-length portraits, and a couple of three-quarter-length images.

This gives the firm a consistent collection they can use in different ways—from the company website and attorney bio to social media, announcements, and future marketing.

When we plan a business portrait session, the goal is to create images that look professional while also giving the company plenty of useful options.
