Today I’m featuring a couple images I captured during my recent trip to Jekyll Island, GA. This gorgeous Great Egret took me a bit by surprise but I’m thankful I was able to capture a few good frames. These birds are so graceful! I love watching them in flight.

📸 UNDER THE JEKYLL SKY ✨

Some nights are about the photo, and some nights are about the experience. ✨

This was one of those unforgettable nights on Jekyll Island — standing under the Milky Way with the sound of the ocean nearby, learning, laughing, and creating alongside a photographer friend. She let me pose with her camera so I could be part of the scene while she triggered the shutter on mine, and together we captured this moment beneath the stars. Thank you Jan Copeland McElhinny

This shared moment under a sky full of light — felt extra special. Definitely a night I’ll remember for a long time

Throwback to a March sunset in Edisto, South Carolina.
The conditions never really came together the way I’d hoped, but just before the sun slipped below the horizon, the entire sky suddenly caught fire with color. I didn’t even have time to switch over to my long lens. Good thing my camera has such a big sensor so I could crop the image drastically. 😅

Moments like this are why I stay until the very end — sometimes the best light shows up in the final minutes of the day. 🌅

Another incredible sunrise from Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse, Outer Banks (OBX) NC. I never grow tired of watching the day wake up in this special place. Looking forward to going back in September!

Shenandoah in Bloom

A spring overlook in Shenandoah National Park, framed by blooming dogwoods and layers of Blue Ridge mountains. I stopped for the mountain view, but the dogwoods ended up stealing the scene.

Spring Greens of Crabtree 🌿

A new waterfall for your Wednesday 🤩
My first visit to Crabtree Falls in Virginia—and such a different feel from Crabtree Falls in NC. This one felt quieter, more intimate. The lower water flow gave me the chance to slow things down and focus on the layered drops, using a longer exposure to bring out that soft, peaceful movement.

This one made me work for it 😅
Sat through a rainstorm at Raven’s Roost thinking it might be a bust, and then right at the end—this little window of light showed up. Funny how that happens.

Sometimes the best views don’t come easy… but they’re always worth the wait.

“Where the Day Rests”

I’ve been watching this spot for a while, and last night I finally had a chance to stop and shoot it.

The sky didn’t show off the way I expected… but the light had other plans. Everything just settled into this quiet golden glow—the kind that doesn’t demand attention, but holds it anyway.

The tree, the silo, the windmill… all just standing still as the day slowly slipped away.

A little reminder that not every scene needs drama to be beautiful. Just another “God Wink” from

Grazin’ at Golden Hour 🌾

Sometimes you don’t plan the shot—the road just leads you there.

I turned down a quiet Lancaster County, PA lane last night and found this peaceful pasture right as the sun was slipping low. That light lined up just right behind this horse, like it was meant to be.

One of those gentle “God winks” that feels too perfect to plan.😉

Moments like this are why I keep coming back to Amish country. Simple, peaceful, and full of unexpected beauty.
