My photo of the beautiful Santa Fe River is "May" in a calendar with images from other local artists! I'm very grateful to be part of something intended to bring awareness to our precious and fragile natural resources. The more people who come to love the wild places, the greater our changes for preserving them.

We wanted to highlight and thank Kimberly Sulger for her photo selected for the month of May in our 2026 District calendar. This photo of the Santa Fe River was taken from the High Springs boat ramp. Thank you, Kimberly, for taking such a great photo!

Lush greenery meets clear turquoise waters at this hidden gem. At this time of year, our favorite gentle giants, the manatees, come upriver to enjoy the warmth of the spring waters!

For years I have set up Christmas-themed shots, usually on or around the panhandle beaches where I was living. This is one of my favorites from a few years ago. I love the quiet serenity conveyed by the golden light in the blue sky, the secluded beach, and the twinkling of the lights in the dunes.

May this holiday season bring you peace, joy, and love in abundance!

The Pensacola Lighthouse is very special to me! I served as a docent there for over two years, until I moved from the area. I have so many great memories of seeing guests take that first step out onto the catwalk for the most amazing view for 100 miles! I especially loved it when fellow lighthouse aficionados wanted to learn more about the wonderful, storied history of this place, including some great tales of haunted happenings!
I have MANY images of lighthouses, but this one ranks among my favorites, of this beautiful lady all dressed up in her holiday finery, captured from another great historic (and allegedly haunted) place, Fort Pickens.

If you're near fresh water in Florida, there's a good chance there are gators around. Fortunately, they are mainly docile creatures that avoid interaction with humans. This guy's body language (mouth closed, floating motionless) indicates that he is relaxed, but he's definitely keeping an eye on me!

Early in the morning, I visited with a beautiful white Ibis hunting breakfast in the waters of the Santa Fe River. I love the bird's perfect reflection in the water!
