Some wedding days follow every tradition. This one didn't — and I absolutely loved that about it.
No long list of “supposed to” moments. No stressing over every little thing. Just two people getting married, surrounded by the people they love, and a bride who seemed completely content to let the day unfold exactly as it was going to.
We had rain. We had sunshine. We somehow ended up with that sunset. There was laughter, a whole lot of personality, and eventually a dance floor that came VERY much alive.
And honestly, that's the good stuff.
Your wedding doesn't have to look like anyone else's. Do the traditions you love. Skip the ones you don't. Make it yours — and I'll photograph the hell out of it. ❤️ Madison Lanier

One thing I will always recommend when planning your wedding timeline: make time to step away.
Just the two of you.
Away from the music, the conversations, the congratulations, and everyone wanting a little piece of your attention. Take a few minutes to hold each other and let it actually sink in… we’re married. This is our wedding day.
And if we can sneak away while the sun is setting? Even better. 🤍
Some of my favorite photographs happen during these few quiet minutes—not because everything is perfectly posed, but because for a moment, there’s nowhere else you need to be and no one else you need to talk to.
It’s just you two, embracing the moment before stepping back into the beautiful chaos of your wedding day.
Put the quiet moments in the timeline, too. They matter.

I need to take a minute and brag on my right-hand woman. ❤️

Lacey has been beside me for probably 90% of the weddings I’ve photographed.

We met at a photography meet-up around eight years ago, back when I was just getting into weddings. We instantly clicked, and when I finally decided to jump into wedding photography, she was the first person I reached out to and asked to second shoot with me.

And all these years later, she’s still the one I want standing beside me on a wedding day.

There’s something that happens when you work beside someone for that long. We know each other. We know how the other one works. Half the time we don’t even have to say what needs to happen—we just know. We feed off each other, laugh our asses off, handle the chaos, and somehow make our couples feel like we’re old friends instead of two photographers they hired for the day.

I think that’s a huge part of what makes our wedding experience what it is. We make people feel at home because, honestly, working together feels like home to us too.

Life eventually took Lacey to South Carolina, where she has her own photography business. But apparently moving states wasn’t enough to get rid of me. 😂 This crazy woman has made that long drive from what South Carolina to Florida several times now JUST to second shoot weddings with me.

And if that wasn’t enough, she’s constantly over there telling people, “Hire Sarah for your wedding so I can second shoot with her.” 😂❤️

That kind of support means more to me than she probably realizes. She’s building her own business and her own life in another state, and she’s still one of the biggest cheerleaders of mine.

When I look back through eight years of weddings, so much of my work has her fingerprints on it too. The moments I couldn’t be in two places to capture. The different angles. The dresses carried, veils fixed, nerves calmed, equipment grabbed, problems handled, and about a million things our couples probably never even knew were happening behind the scenes.

A second shooter can be someone who shows up with another camera.

Lacey has never been just that to me.

She’s my friend. She’s my right-hand woman. She’s my wedding-day partner and my extra set of eyes. And after all these years, she’s become part of what a Bespoke Southern wedding is.

So this is me giving some of that love back to the woman who’s always so quick to give it to me.

The moment was perfect…the angle, thanks to that lovely white tent, was not. 😂
I knew there was a beautiful photograph hiding behind that wall of fabric and all the background distractions, so I couldn’t let this sweet little hand kiss go.
This is why I hand-edit every gallery. Not every photograph requires this much work, but some moments are simply worth saving. 💗

Okayyyy, but can we talk about HER for a minute?! 🔥
Madison was absolutely SLAYING it on her wedding day. I mean… MA’AM. 😍
And here's the funny part—this room was TINY. We're talking more walk-in closet than bridal suite. 😂 But I saw that light, tucked her up on the counter, and knew we could make something gorgeous happen.
That's one of my favorite parts of photography. You don't always need a huge beautiful space. Sometimes it's about seeing the light, finding the angle, and making the space you have work for you.
Of course, having a bride who understood the assignment didn't hurt either. 🔥🤍

I’ve been working on something a little special for my website. 🤍

Over the years, I’ve been incredibly lucky to photograph so many families, growing bellies, brand-new babies, seniors, weddings, and all of those little moments in between.

I recently created a page on my website dedicated entirely to the words my clients have shared about their experiences with me—and reading through them while putting it together has meant more to me than I can say.

Of course I want you to love your photographs, but hearing that I made you feel comfortable, beautiful, cared for, or simply able to be yourself in front of my camera means just as much to me. These words truly mean the world to me.

A little look at how I create a wedding album from beginning to end. 🤍
When you choose one of my wedding collections that includes an album, this is the care that goes into creating it. I don’t simply place photographs onto pages—I thoughtfully design every spread so your album flows naturally and tells the complete story of your day.
For a 10x10 album, I ask each couple to choose 30 favorite photographs. That does not mean the finished album will contain only 30 images. Their choices show me which photographs, people, and moments mean the most to them—and ensure that every one of their must-haves is included.
From there, I take over. I add the details, family photographs, emotions, and little in-between moments needed to bring the entire day together. They choose the heart of their story, and I carefully build everything else around it.
Once the design is complete, my couples can choose the cover that feels most like them. Linen is available, but I’ll admit that I will always lean toward leather for a wedding album. It feels classic and timeless, gives the album that true heirloom quality, and will hold up beautifully through years of being opened, loved, and eventually passed down.
This is a look inside one of my finished wedding albums that has already made its way into my couple’s hands. Digital galleries are wonderful, but there is something irreplaceable about sitting together, turning the pages, and holding your wedding story in your hands. 🤍

I photographed these images five years ago, but looking at it now, I realize it holds so much more than the beautiful moment you see.
I was 42 years old, nine months pregnant, and just seven days away from giving birth to Hank. It was August in Florida, the heat index felt like 105°, and I had no idea exactly when he would arrive.
My pregnancy had been filled with uncertainty. I lost my insurance three months into it, and after getting new coverage, I struggled to find a doctor who would accept me so far along. It was a nightmare, and although I had already given birth to three children and trusted that I knew my body, there was still fear beneath that trust.
But that evening, I stood behind my camera and photographed the tenderness between another mother and her little boy. Maybe because I was so close to giving birth myself—full of hormones, emotion, instinct, and anticipation—I felt their connection a little more deeply. The entire gallery became one of my favorites, and five years later, it still is.
This photograph has become a doorway back to the woman I was that evening.
She was carrying uncertainty, exhaustion, fear, and a whole baby—and she was still creating something tender for another mother. Seven days later, Hank arrived perfectly healthy. I know that now, but the woman standing behind the camera that evening didn’t.
For years, I only saw the mother and child in this photograph. Looking at it today, I finally see the woman behind the camera too.
And she was stronger than she realized. 🤍

This family right here… I just adore them. 🤍
This morning’s session was to celebrate their oldest little girl turning four, but it was also another little chapter in their family’s story that I feel so lucky to preserve.
Watching these girls grow, seeing the sweetness between them, and capturing the way their mama loves them is such a gift. Some families begin as clients and become people you truly look forward to seeing—and I’m so thankful they continue to trust me with these seasons of their lives.
Happy fourth birthday, sweet girl. You are so very loved, and four looks pretty adorable on you. 🤍
