Future generations will ask how we allowed any of this. How we allowed a ra**st and a racist, a crook and a conman in the White House, not once but twice. I’m still awaiting a real red line here, and while I wait, I’ll be represented by these stellar Americans who represent us with dignity and grace, empathy and generosity, humor and kindness. Not perfect, just good humans who believe in public service for all the right reasons.. 💙

Wow wow wow!! An extraordinary even happened yesterday at Hillsdale Fire Company # 1. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the Knox Expedition,
when General Knox ( a 25 year old bookseller from Boston) led the Continental army and brought 60 tons of canon and other artillery from Fort Ticonderoga to the Boston area. His trail lead through the Berkshires and Columbia county, including through our town of Hillsdale. There were reenactors, who explained and showed us how it was done. and Assemblyperson were on hand to present our town supervisor , along with local officials, certificates to commemorate this special event.

The turnout was trluy unbelievable. When we arrived, it felt like Tanglewood for a James Taylor concert- no joke! Bravo !

Who knew Irwin and I would land in a place so rich in history, and so pivotal in the ultimate success of the American Revolution. The poignance of this event is only heightened by our current stance.
Thank you to everybody, whose dedication and hard work made this happen.

Yesterday Columbia County NY made history when was sworn in as our new Sheriff. She is the 1st Black Female Sheriff in NYS. did the honors and also swore in Ian Boehme as our Under Sheriff. What an amazing day!

Yesterday Columbia County NY made history as was swarm in as our new Sheriff! She is the First Black Female Sheriff in THE ENTIRE STATE! Our amazing Assembly representative Didi Barrett did the honors and also swore in our new Under Sheriff, Ian Boehme. What an amazing way to begin 2026‼️

I will never forget what began as a magnificent Tuesday morning in NYC 24 years ago. It’s hard to believe it’s been 24years. I can still close my eyes and replay that day in my mind. The pain and heartbreak never go away. The sound of low flying planes still elicit a level of panic 24 years later.
This is a print of a linoleum cut that our oldest son did in 2nd grade in 1996/97. As it turned out, our son’s perspective (or lack thereof) of planes in the sky was sadly prophetic. As with much of our children’s art, we had it framed and displayed prominently in our home. After 9/11, this beautiful and innocent work of art took on an entirely different meaning. Although it no longer hangs in our kitchen, (it is with all of our saved valuable art), it is a cherished remembrance of the profound loss of life as well as the innocence our children and nation were stripped of that day.
That day, we were a nation bonded together by sorrow and strength. It saddens me to see how far we’ve fallen since.
And we continue to fall in an almost free fall pattern . Democracy, as we know it, continues to erode while violence and hatred escalate. We are living in very dark times and history seems to be repeating itself once again.
May the memories of all of those lost that day and all of those that died from being on that site in the aftermath be blessings always.💔
